Sam Northeast becomes only the 11th batsmen to score 400 in a first-class innings on day four of the Ranji Trophy final between Leicestershire and Glamorgan.
Lunch score:
Leicestershire 584(Mulder 156) Glamorgan 795-5(Ingram 139 Northeast 410* Cooke 191*)
Northeast and Chris Cooke have so far added 461 for the 6th wicket which i'd guess is close to a world record, or at least a county record.
Anybody name the others from the 400 club without googling, i've got 7 so far, and probably missing obvious ones.
Looks like they've declared straight after lunch.

Strange decision to declare with absolutely no chance of forcing a win, unless Northeast was physically out on his feet why not allow him and Cooke try and beat the world record partnership for the 6th wicket of 487(Headley 344* Passailaigue 261*)for Jamaica v Lord Tennyson's XI 90 years ago.

Trying to find the scoreboard from a match in India a couple of years ago, probably Ranji Trophy, where two young batsman both with 200+ to their name got into the changing-room after their Captain had declared to find they were only a run from creating a new record for that wicket.
I abhor violence but i'd have knocked my Captain out if he'd have done that to me.

Some interesting failures in that innings.
David Lloyd out for 2. The son of Mr and Mrs Root from Sheffield out first ball, and Parkinson from Lancashire 0/187.

Glamorgan have Leicestershire 140-5 in their 2nd innings, still 74 runs behind, with 24 overs remaining so looks as if the declaration was a good one.

Excellent declaration. Should always put the team's position ahead of individual achievements.

Excellent declaration. Should always put the team's position ahead of individual achievements. And second in the division. Must have seen something either in the pitch or maybe in the faces of their opponents to give them hope.
