Excellent declaration. Should always put the team's position ahead of individual achievements. ========= Still don't agree with you Mr Abrahams. Kind Regards. Mr & Mrs Fairbrother. I always believed that was Bob Willis who effectively enforced that declaration by simply walking his team off after the agreed number of overs / time (can'trememberwhich). Not a lot that Abrahams or Fairbrother could do.

Not sure that is relevant, but yes from time to time, like most of the regular posters on here, we all received an invitation to join when it was set up.
In terms of that incident, Jack Simmons was batting at the other end. Here he confirms Willis turned and walked off, leaving the batsmen in the middle for a while:

I didn't write that article.
It is only half the story, of course, but the bit I remember.
The declaration is also mentioned in Wisden and in Abrahams benefit brochure.

The only two scores of 350+ this century in the County Championship were made against Leicestershire.
Who made the other one ?

Thanks for the link though, interesting read, always liked Flat Jack. Sorry, mind on other things this am, before driving a 250 mile round trip to Merseyside. Reading it quickly it seemed you were questioning the earlier post as if it were simply a rumour on a forum. Click on members, then date registered to sort by date joined and you will recognise a fair few names from previous forum although not many lasted the 4+ years. A lot joined in that first week.
