Finally thawed out from yesterday. Disappointing day because we know we can field much better than that but Kent worthy winners. Aside from the pretty dismal fielding, the other difference was that our part time bowlers got carted whereas Kent's spinner proved effective.
Jones and Bohannon both use up far too many balls and then put the pressure on the other batsman. Jones is a great fielder but just doesn't seem to have the range of shots required for one-day cricket.

Jones is a great fielder but just doesn't seem to have the range of shots required for one-day cricket. It is a recurring theme, with run chases that go deep into the innings. Against Yorkshire on finals day, and the quarter final of the Blast, we were ok chasing because the top 4 did all the work. But with the exception of the run chases in Blackpool in the One Day Cup, we tend to struggle once we rely on nos 5 onwards to see us home. Not sure if it's the players (Jones played an almost identical innings at Derbyshire when we failed to chase a gettable total), the coaching staff/captains with poor messaging or a combination of both. We also looked very lacklustre in the field, even before all the dropped catches. I think 1, maybe 2, of Jennings, Wells, Vilas and Croft will make way from the batting line up in white ball cricket next year. And I think Williams will be way down the pecking order of white ball bowlers, behind Mahmood, Gleeson, Wood, Lamb, Bailey and Hurt.

Bit late to this thread owing to lack of internet. Bad toss to lose but no other excuses for Lancs. Kent brought their best game and Lancs didn’t, as shown by regular lapses in concentration, resulting in sloppy fielding and gifting of cheap wickets. Team selection looked wrong to me: not enough bowling options and two batsmen unsuited to one day cricket, however good their fielding. 306 was well above par on such a dry, slow pitch and Kent’s accurate pace- off bowling proved too much in the end. Might have been different if Balderson and Morley had played in place of Bohannon and Jones.

Really should have played Hartley or Parky. That Croft had to bowl says something. We needed better batting to get that target and without Livingstone, Buttler or Salt there wasn't much of a chance.

Williams' strength appears to be maidens in the first class game, putting pressure on batsmen as he is accurate but is that predictability a strength in a one day game, these days?
Not sure Hurt or Gleeson have contracts for next year, yet

Dropped catch with three balls left, allowed single which in turn gave Podmore the strike to hit a boundary rather than Gilchrist their no. 11 facing two balls.

Chris is right that we should have beaten Kent in the group match but then we’d probably have been playing Hampshire in the final. We would still have picked the wrong side and nerves would still have got to Wells and Williams, both of whom were well below their best.

The more and more you think about it the management were to blamefor the defeat,Going in with only 4 front line bowlers ,Short boundry on one side our only 2 left handers our the openers .Balderstone should of played ,And stevie wonder can see young bell is in a different leauge to bohannon and jones.
