Found some old air photos of OT on the net and in particular this one taken in 1934.
From the date taken this is last day of the 3rd test in the Ashes - ended up a draw England 627-9d & 123-0d & Aussie 491 & 66-1.
If you zoom in on Brian Statham Way (formerly Warwick Road South?) you can see the trams parked outside and two towers in the field opposite for the film cameras?. I remember that field being used for overflow parking. There is sign of a wicket in the middle of the field so I wonder if Lancashire owned it. Never built upon for some reason until Kelloggs came along.
Surprised that the railway track was that big - 6 lines? - and that then there was no vehicle access over it.
Like the total lack of any hospitality just two tents! Note in the bottom right corner a group stood on the Great Stone Road railway bridge trying to catch the score??
