I was underwhelmed on first hearing. But I'd never heard of Wil Williams when we signed him and he's worked out pretty well. And you need to be a pretty decent batter to get in that NZ Test team in this era, so you could be a very good player and still not get into the team. And we've got him for the whole season, that's a bonus (if he's decent). And he's bound to be an improvement on CDG, low bar admittedly. So I'll reserve judgment and wish him well.

No idea how good the standard is in NZ FC cricket but he averages 48 from 50 odd games. Can’t be a bad player with those numbers surely

I know we have lost Vilas and Croft from red ball, but i would prefer them to be promoting our youngsters tbh. A good average but he never seems to of been mentioned in test terms for new zealand as far as i can tell from a quick search on the web. Surely Balderson should be batting at 6, with the keeper below, Bell as a specialist batter and Salt at 4 when available.

A safe rather than sexy signing but once he settles I think he'll do well ....
And the West Indies gave us the three W's, Lancashire trying to go one better with a 3-6 of: Bohannon, Balderstone, Bruce and Bell

4-7 could bat in any order
plus Wood and a game or two of Anderson.
the youngsters will be playing List A again.
Croft, Livingstone and Buttler for at least some of the T20 along with Hartley.

No doubt people will be aware of the impressive scores of Jennings and Bohannon today for England A.
These two clearly on England’s radar then, along with Salt.
Vilas gone, Jones gone, Croft retired from first class; even with Bruce do we have enough batting cover?
