That's fine but I'd have preferred Emilio Gay.
Perhaps we should send all our young players to other counties, so that they can be developed properly, and then bring them back.

TBH I don't remember him at all at Lancs, and if he can't get into Durham's side, it is unlikely he will set the world on fire either..... a first class average of 33 doesn't really imply he is much to write home about.

But perhaps a better bet than Singh or Lavelle averaging 9.8 and 0.7 in the One Day Cup...

In the County Championship of 2022, he averaged an attractive 51.64.
However last year, only 33.21.

If hes available I would get him on loan immediately, given our recent batting travails.
Hopefully will prove to be a solid signing.

Probably a bit unkind but feels more like an Alec Swann signing, rather than a Keaton Jennings. Durham sign Gay and Rhodes, we get their cast off.
We're shopping in Aldi rather than Waitrose.

(Father Ted, as someone pointed out at the time!)

Unfortunately Alec Swann was also the name I was reminded of. From memory that year they also signed John Wood from Durham.
There was a fairly damning comment in Atherton's autobiography something along the lines of "we no longer recruited players of the same calibre" or words to that effect.
Salt as a white ball specialist was never going to be around too much once his England career took off.
I think back to my teenage years when we had 8 or 9 internationals. How the mighty have fallen.....
