Spent the day at Sedbergh yesterday, watching a very young Academy / Emerging Player Programme Lancs team play Sedbergh School.
Interesting considering what happened yesterday evening and today at Worcester.
Side comprised 3 from the academy (Lavelle, Morley and Dorsey) several from the EPP (mainly from the u17 age group team) and a couple from the junior (under 15) EPP (Fielding and Mahmood). A third Lancs junior EPP player was playing for the school side (Aspinwall).
Lavelle made the headlines, but was badly dropped very early on, when perhaps in single figures. Still he had the temperament and talent to cash in, as the saying is. Louis Botes also impressed, as did Aspinwall. [Aswell as George Hill on Yorkshire's books playing for Sedbergh.]
Lavelle has just been selected by the ECB for an invitation XI at u19 level. He could easily force his way into the England Under 19 test side this summer.
Lancs will have to make a decision soon with Vilas, Davies and Guest already on the staff. I hope we don't have another John Simpson situation.

Also the England white-ball keeper too but without knowing anything about him playing club cricket and the occasional game for the 2nds at his age will be good for his development.

Trouble is having good promising youngsters is the total reluctance of the management team to actually play them in the first team, good place to watch cricket is Sedburgh
