The plonker still thinks it should be played at the same time as the Hundred

I think it's all pretty disingenuous. Luke Wood is pretty much the only player affected a Lancashire.
I hadn't even heard of the Zim Afro T10. Part of the answer has to be putting Luke Wood on to a white ball contract, which effectively means a T20 Blast contract. If he doesn't want to play in the championship, fair enough, but his contractual status should reflect that.

I fully agree with the article. If we could offer Buttler/Salt/Livingstone the same pay as the IPL offers then probably they would stay. The problem is where to find the money and also the effect on the other lower paid players in the team?

He's not saying anything most of us haven't realised for a few years now. I'm finding myself much less bothered about our relegation this season than I was in previous seasons, because the competition has become so devalued. In that sense the ICC and the ECB have won.
What Gidney doesn't explain is why we didn't go in for Pennington, Gay & Rhodes who could have replaced the players we've lost. Or if we did, why they went elsewhere.

Gidney said much of this at the members meeting last week. I hope none of the Lancashire management embarrass themselves by putting the failure this season down to unavailability of our internationals. Lancashire problems are mainly self inflicted, Butler, Salt and Wood were all imports and Wood clearly should not be on red ball contract.
As I said on another thread Indian players have a contract with the BCCI which prevents them playing in any franchise tournaments other than the IPL. I would like the ECB to do something similar to prevent our domestic players playing in minor franchise tournaments which clash with our season.
I do wonder how sustainable these franchise tournaments are. I struggle to see the appeal to a tv audience of watching a continuous cycle of short form cricket which consists of teams made up from the same pool of players. Or is it's purpose to supply the material for a betting market?
