Hope he leaves and finds a county. Never known a player treated so shoddily by management

Have heard a rumour denno97 that he is on a contract that increases after so many games and Lancs are too mean to pay up. It may be a wrong rumour , but the trouble is it’s so believable.

Hope he leaves and finds a county. Never known a player treated so shoddily by management Doesn't make it any better but I think there have actually been quite a lot of shoddily treated players over the years!

n six seasons as a professional, Lavelle made 37 appearances across all competitions for the Club.
Lavelle played a key role as an ever-present in Lancashire’s run to the final of the One-Day Cup in 2022, contributing two half-centuries and taking 12 catches behind the stumps in 10 matches.
Speaking about his time at Lancashire, George Lavelle said: “I would like to thank everyone at Lancashire Cricket for making the last six years so enjoyable. I grew up watching Lancashire with my Grandad and thinking about how special it would be to play one game there, with him watching.
“I would especially like to thank all the lads who have been brilliant throughout. Also, to the fans and Members, who have been a great support through the good times and the tough times.
“I wish everyone at the Club all the success for the future.”
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton commented: “On behalf of everybody at the Club, I would like to wish George all the very best in his future endeavours.
“I would like to thank him for his contributions to the Red Rose since joining us at county age group level, before joining our Academy in 2016 and signing his first professional contract three years later.
“Although I’m sure this year will have had its frustrations for George, his attitude has always been nothing short of exceptional and will stand him in good stead for the future.”

Sorry to see him go but not surprised. I hope gets an opportunity at another county. I thought he looked really good when I saw him playing in the ODC in 2021. I think he has been unfortunate with the emergence of Bell and then Hurst and not had the best treatment from Lancashire.
I wonder if there will be any more announcements Morley? Blatherwick?

Real shame he couldnt make it. He pulled off some unbelievable stumpings and was a really good keeper and had ability with the bat.
Hope he gets another county and makes a good career for himself.
He is probably rated higher than Brooke Guest was and look how well he has done.

He came with such great expectations, having been one of the all-time best players at the Bunbury Festival, and perhaps found those expectations too difficult to live up to.
Hope he finds success at another county.

Yeah, it's a shame. But one thing you can't say about Lancs is that they're reluctant to pick young players. Bell, Hurst, Singh, Flintoff, Fonseka, Aspinwall... Harmison was saying on the talksport show that Benkenstein even wanted to pick Joe Moores, who's 16. So there must be a reason why they've overlooked Lavelle. As others have said, hope he does well at another county and comes back to us, just as Michael Jones has done.
