The last four day match at headquarters this season and also the last four day match when play under lights on 19/8/2018 a the Oval best of luck with that Sunday night cricket. This is a huge game in the season and for once the ECB have seen sense and are letting the big lads play, Buttler and Anderson for us plus Root and Bairstow for them Plunkett and Willey also available but will probably not play. Yorkshire will also have Kane Williamson available. Interestingly Yorkshire have signed Warwickshire's Josh Poysden a leg spinner on loan for this match which does tend to make a mockery of the loan rules. With the names on view should get a decent crowd.

Yorks 192 all out Clark a career best return Luther as per usual batted well, downside looks like Livingstone may have broken a bone in his wrist

Yorks 192 Lancs 109
Sodded off at 40-0 to see if I could catch the last bit of the golf nearly dropped when I saw 92-8 which eventually was 109 all out. It's a used wicket hence Yorkshire's decision to bat first. Lyth batted well as per usual against us but the highlight has to be Jordan Clark's hat trick, wasn't the fact he got three in three it was who he got Root, Williamson and Bairstow as it goes that probably up there with the best in terms of victim's quality. He ended up with a career best. Lancs looked in no trouble whatsoever obviously that changed also lost Livingstone to what looks like a suspected broken ball in his wrist suspect we are up poop creek in this one

Yorks 192 all out Clark a career best return Luther as per usual batted well, downside looks like Livingstone may have broken a bone in his wrist Yorkshire were 82/5 after 28 overs. In the next 29 overs Patterson (22), Brooks (14), Poysden (20*) and Coad (15) with a little help from Lyth (scoring 26 in that period) manage to take the score from 82/5 by scoring 110 runs which was more than the Lancashire innings managed in total in their 30 overs. Needless to say our tail did not wag.
Clearly, Croft and Brown (and maybe Jones) will be out of Lancashire next year as Chapple (and whoever else is involved in selection) clearly doesn't think they would score any runs at all prefering to select a player who has shouldered arms, iirc, in 4 of his last 5 first class innings whilst amassing a handful of runs - including a season's best of 20.

Two pivotal moments on a very long day play finished after 7, first Bairstow dropped on 22 easy catch to Parkinson went onto make 82, secondly Buttler got out in the next to the last over when he and Bailey had put on 80 plus to leave Lancs in with a chance of an imprpabale victory chasing 323 still need 140 but just the tail remain. Hameed regained some form looked good until nicking one behind for 33, the openers again batted well but this defeat is likely to send us closer to the trap door
