Buttler, Jennings and Vilas received County caps this morning not surprised, at all. Probably be the last opportunity to present Buttler with his cap this year, and Lancs Cricket Committee have always followed the lead from England selections and capped players when they become internationals. Surprised it took so long.
Mildly surprised that Bailey wasn't capped at the same time, he has taken more first class wickets than any other uncapped player for Lancs in the last 50 years.
Graham Onions can't be far off receiving his also.

Surprised no-one was capped during the Surrey match at the end of the season. But maybe that was because some were away with England so they have to wait for the awards dinner.
Expect Salt, Wells, Wood, Gleeson all are overdue. Williams and Hartley possibly. Lamb less likely. Unless I've missed their cap being awarded already. Unlike Lancashire not to cap someone immediately after they played for England. Would be awkward if they don't offer Gleeson another contract after his debut for England.

I thought Wells is a senior regular player after two very good seasons. Scored 9 short of 1000 runs this last season where 800 is now considered a good season given the number of games.
Had Bohannon scored as many in his career when he got his cap for example. I feel they should get some consistency into it.
Allot said on tv last week that Wells took a pay cut to come to us which surprised me but he should know as he was the director of cricket at the time.
I just hope this is not more penny pinching by Gidney which could create bad feelings amongst some good guys who have done well for the club.

Looking back at APM’s post in 2018, when did Bailey receive his cap, it’s not mentioned on the OS.
That’s assuming he has of course! Surely so with 300+ first class wickets.

Surely so with 300+ first class wickets. towards the end of the 2018 season at Taunton. Looking this up it seems the end of season awards bash was 1st October. So Early!

Wells capped at awards function last Friday.
So nothing for recent England caps: Gleeson, Wood and Salt.
Nor for Williams.

Glad Wells did get his cap well deserved. Only fair as he has probably scored more runs than Bohannon and Jennings had when they got theirs.
Does anyone know if the awards do was a members thing as it has in the past? No actual photos of the room with people in it or any publicity for it other than two that could have been taken in an empty room.
I'm dismayed that the club is pulling itself apart and there is genuine contempt between the management and the members and supporters. I feel gidney is after a top job at the ecb and I just wish he would go. At a time when the team is doing so well and on the cusp of something the club has never appeared so broken.

Very pleased to see Luke Wells receive his cap. On a more general note, has the cap system had its time? Some counties don't award caps any more and others give out a cap as soon as a player plays for the 1st team. I always think it looks a little awkward when you see some players wearing 1st team caps and others 2nd team caps, in what is a team game. There was an irony about George Bell keeping wicket wearing a helmet showing the full red rose.

Surely Salt and Wood, as England players, should receive their county caps at Old Trafford this weekend? Williams and Balderson not far behind.
