Tremendous . I always dreaded us playing against him . Admit I was wrong about the signing ; I always prefer to see youth developed if possible although I thought he could be useful on coaching side.

Yes, but are they really considering awarding caps on a week-by-week or day-by-basis basis? Did they not previously realise that the guy who bowled that maiden at the end of the Taunton match, had been capped by England but not by themselves? Have to hope not, so have to hope that the decision was made to award Onions' cap was made at the same time as Bailey's cap. That would make it deliberate policy to award it separately rather than sharing the limelight. But why? That wasn't the case earlier in the season when Buttler, Jennings and Vilas were awarded their county caps together. Awarding three at the same time at least gives the impression of careful consideration of the whole squad. So perhaps they regretted not doing Bailey and Onions back then, and waited for a performance to make it appear feasible that they had 'only' just earned their caps.
So will Maharaj will awarded his cap at the Rose Bowl if he takes a few second innings wickets now and so makes a telling contribution again? Or Gleeson?
The management looks stranger than ever, recently. So are they all on the same page?

retiring from professional cricket after medical advice following his current back injury.
From the club article "Coaching has been an increasing passion"..... wonder if he will replace Gary Yates, or find a role elsewhere with club after they do a coaching reshuffle?

Good article on him by Derek Pringle in the current Cricket Paper . Makes a point that I’ve made on the Guardian forum that he was very similar to Jimmy Anderson .With the same luck with injuries, I think he could have been almost as successful but Pringle reckoned you could only have one of the two in the team which I think is probably right.

Good luck to him. A hint that an 'outside' appointment as head coach, bringing in their own people, is imminent?

Good luck to him. A hint that an 'outside' appointment as head coach, bringing in their own people, is imminent? Reading the press release it sounds like it his choice to go back to Durham. Good luck to him and I'm sorry to see him leave the club.

Good luck to him. A hint that an 'outside' appointment as head coach, bringing in their own people, is imminent? You'd assume so, unless they go for Crowe.
