The only parking I can see would be the school's rugby ground, and that would be for VIP's only I suppose. there will be other sports grounds available I suppose, so hope it isn't too wet and muddy! But, gorgeous ground as it it, what a ridiculous choice - for a HOME game? It's in ruddy Yorkshire (old/proper boundaries) so who are the locals gonna support? The Headmaster reckons that there will be 2,000 there each day with the biggest crowd on the Sunday. Anyone know how that compares to S&B? But how many cars would there be descending Sedbergh to bring in 2,000 spectators?
Considering there's limited public transport; I would suggest at least 1000 cars, add locals going about their daily lives + tourists and where are they gonna go? Sure fields could be used, but what are the chances they will be too wet? Maybe P+R can be arranged from more suitable locations, but for a long day game people like to come and go when it suits them. Maybe they could cope with a one-day game over a weekend, but this for four days? Good luck to them.

Never been up there myself but sounds like it is going to be a bit of a farce. Probably one for me to give a miss!

Thanks for the links Chris. Despite my cynicism, I would love this to be a success partly for the reasons I gave above. Discussing it with a friend in the pub this evening, I think I will give it a day given a reasonable forecast.
Allott typically graceless in his criticism of Southport . It isn’t my favourite outground ; I prefer Aigburth and Blackpool but the man has no class. When Sedbergh old boy Jordan Clark left us for Surrey he said “ Good luck to him ; he’ll need it”

If Lytham was good enough in the 80's, what's it done wrong since?? And aren't there any Lancashire League clubs that could host a 4-day game??

If Lytham was good enough in the 80's, what's it done wrong since?? And aren't there any Lancashire League clubs that could host a 4-day game?? Was a terrific four day game of cricket against Sussex at Lytham in 1995 which I think was the last time we played there. The last four day game at Blackpool in 2011 against Worcestershire was also a terrific game of cricket

I see, for anyone interested in a more peaceful visit to Sedbergh, that the Lancashire Academy are again playing there against the School on the Tuesday before the county championship match:
A chance to check out your travel arrangements and the car parking etc.

From the Liverpool Cricket Competition old website
This website has been asked to post the following article.
"Lancashire County Cricket Club members and supporters are astonished at the ludicrous decision by the club to allocate the Specsavers Championship home match against Durham on June 30th to the remote rural location at Sedbergh School in Cumbria, some 81 miles from Lancashire's headquarters at Old Trafford.
"This fixture could have been played at Liverpool, Blackpool or Southport and Lancashire members and supporters are encouraged to contact Lancashire County Cricket Club and register their disgust at this amazing decision."
Meanwhile, comments are gathering on Twitter. One by the 'Lancs Action Group' reads:
"Average annual rainfall - Manchester 929 mm, Southport 868 mm, Blackpool 810 mm, Liverpool 810 mm and wait for it Sedbergh 1173 mm. 45% more than Liverpool & Blackpool & 35% more than Southport!!! It's ok folks i'm sure you can shelter in the Masters dorm."
others read:
"Forget a picturesque ground, forget involving Cumbrian & Durham cricket fans (& Yorkshire). The only reason Lancashire have turned down 200 Lancashire grounds & moved to a public school in the middle of nowhere is money. Nothing more, nothing less."
"Thanks for that Lancs. Great repayment to Blackpool for all they’ve tried to do to accommodate you. Oh by the way have you seen how the hotel/b&b prices around that area have shot up?"
"Usually follow Durham away but will be giving this one a miss. Very little public transport and few hotel rooms. Goodness knows what cricket clubs in Lancashire think of this."
"Shocking decision. Such a shame so many locals who support LCC will have to travel so far to support. So many local grounds at the heart of Lancs where this could be played. Money from a local club”

Lancs website just published this. cricket.lancashirecricket.co.uk/news/2019-news/update-lancashire-cricket-club-outgrounds/
Including this paragraph: "The decision making process saw the likes of the head groundsman, his wider grounds team, the independent ECB pitch consultant (who has visited all of the out-grounds), the Cricket Department including Paul Allott and Head Coach Glen Chapple, the Operational Department which is responsible for the delivery of such events and match days, Chief Executive Daniel Gidney, and the Sales and Marketing department that includes Membership."
How can someone who can't even write English be responsible for communication on the website? "The decision making process saw the likes of" ... do what?
Either "the decision making process included the likes ....." or "the decision making process saw the likes of ..... all providing input into the selection of Sedbergh."
Nor does it address the comment that there was no club ground up to scratch in any Lancashire league or even a Lancashire based independent school!
Plus later on my pet hate a reference to "Southport CC" which was only amalgated with Birkdale CC in 1902. Talk about being behind the times.
And if they want to "strengthen links" with Cumberland County Cricket Club, my suggestion would be to start with getting the name right. It is not "Cumberland CC" or "Cumberland Minor Counties" nor is it the "Cumbrian Cricket Board" which looks after the age group cricket.
Can't wait for part two, when the website decides it needs to clarify the recent remarks made by Paul Allott on Haseeb Hameed's future
