Not a shock - safe appointment really after Livingstone stepped down.

Not a lot else to say except congratulations and best wishes. Give us all a good season

Doesn't look like he is coming into the new season in the best of form.
His last 10 games, all List A, have gone as follows:-
5 34 19* 5 0 9 DNB DNB 9 59

If kolpaks (and EU nationals) lose their ability to work in the UK next year, would we be happy to have him as our Overseas?

If kolpaks (and EU nationals) lose their ability to work in the UK next year, would we be happy to have him as our Overseas? Do you not think that the ECB would increase the number of Overseas Players that it allowed? Unless it went to a silly number, do you think that any Government legislation will interfere in the number allowed?

The ECB increasing the number of overseas players is a possibility. But are they that fussed over the championship? Would it help the test side? There are already two in the blast, there will be none in the one day cup, and there will be three in the Hundred.
Can't see any government regulation affecting anything, the only thing they are suggesting is protecting the rights of all EU nationals to stay and work. That may protect those who are fully resident. Vilas was certainly playing in RSA last winter.

Vilas joins Livingstone in the PSL.
The PSL runs from 20th February to 22nd March.
The Lancashire website says: "Upon the completion of the tournament, Vilas will join back up with Lancashire’s squad for the pre-season tour, with details on the tour to be announced in due course."
So presumably the unannounced pre-season tour will be sometime in the fortnight after 23rd March but before 7th April when they have a first class game at Old Trafford.
Seems like they are leaving it a bit late to organise it (or maybe just late to tell people - Didn't they used to organise supporters trips out to watch?)

A mere three days after posting Vilas would return from the PSL to join up with the Lancs pre-season tour, they have changed their mind. The pre-season tour to India clashes with the PSL.
At best Lancashire cricket are confused, or perhaps they don't know what is going on from day to day.
Strange article on Lancs website: Claims Parkinson, Mahmood busy with England. Vilas, Livingstone at PSL.
No mention of Jennings, Buttler, Gleeson or Onions, Lavelle, Shah, Guest, Burrows, Moulton let alone Watling.

Vilas signed as Overseas for 2021. Suspected this might be the case when they interviewed him last October and were silent on his status, even though his contract was up.

I know we are not supposed to care but I thought it was interesting that Vilas was not on the retained lists announced today by the Manchester Originals. He was drafted last year at £125,000 (ahead of Livingstone).
