Family connection is enlarged. Joe Moores is the club's ex-coach's nephew
2024 Boys’ Academy Intake: George Harris - Batter – Elton Cricket Club
Joe Moores - Wicket Keeper/Batter – Macclesfield Cricket Club
Charlie Parkinson - Pace Bowler - Torrisholme Cricket Club
2024 Boys’ Academy Retained: Joe Chapple – Allrounder – Bowdon Cricket Club
Corey Flintoff – Allrounder – Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club
Rocky Flintoff – Allrounder – Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club
Keshana Fonseka – Batter – Hyde Cricket Club
Haider Hussain - Leg Spinner – Hyde Cricket Club
Gennaro Reddy – Batter – Toft Cricket Club
Just to add that means Harvey Walker, Harry Birkman and Alfie Dobson plus Charlie Barnard no longer in the academy. Interesting where that puts Barnard once he comes back from the under 19s world cup.

If Joe Moores makes it that will be three professional keepers from the same family, is that unprecedented?

All 9 lads (definitely 8 not quite sure about Harris) attend a private school.
When you throw in the famous name factor too, it isn't the best look for the club in light of recent reports around making the game more equitable.
Having seen a fair bit of this age group in the last few years, they are also not the 9 best players in this age group in the County.
3 or 4 should not be in there.
Good luck to Benkenstein sorting this nonsense out.

Two other points worth noting is how often the young kids move around clubs these days at a very early age: Both Flintoffs: St Annes, Alderley Edge before S&B
Fonseka: Little Hulton & Clifton before Hyde Harris: Woodbank before Elton
Can't imagine Lancashire happy that Charlie Parkinson is playing the Palace Shield.
Also how predominately Cheshire the academy is these days. Do the Flintoffs still live in Cheshire?

Have heard a whisper that Harris has signed for Northern now You are right about how much they move around these days. Flintoffs still live in Cheshire I believe Parkinson as you say is playing Palace Shield and most of these lads just play school cricket until halfway into the club season Mad how someone like Lucas Selby can be the Age Group player of the month for August with the brilliant run of batting form he had and not get selected. Vey much not a level playing field.

Dobson quit the Academy last year of his own accord Be interesting to see what happens with Barnard and Jack Carney when they get back from the U19 World Cup. Will they get contracts? Both probably deserve one. Birkman too who is a better bowler than the injury prone Boyden in my opinion.

Said before it will be interesting to see if Carney plays for a county - which one. Buttler, Salt, Bell, Hurst, Lavelle are a bit of a queue. Selby at least earnt two games with the seconds at the back end of last season. Could easily play again considering there are more 'keepers at the club than out-and-out batsmen.

Just seen this in the Bolton News: Harris, who attends St Gabriel’s in Bury, represented North of England at the ECB’s Bunbury Festival in August.

I note that young Chapple didn’t bowl in either innings; isn’t bowling his main strength?
I wonder if Dominic Hayes is related to Frank, grandson perhaps?

Chapple is coming back from an injury (stress fracture?) I believe. Not sure how close he is to a bowling return. Hayes not related to Frank from what I know. From the Wigan area and plays at Orrell Red Triangle. Be interesting to see how they split these U18 players next week as there is a second team game and the final U18 three day County Championship game away at Leicestershire. Lancs just lead Leicestershire so it is a winners takes all game.
