Surprised he doesn’t have his own thread yet Does anyone here think that this is a constructive quote by Allott ( on Wisden website)? I know Hameed has got cheap runs today and am pleased to see him get runs against anyone . “He’s got six months left on a contract,” says Allott, “and he’s not scored a run for two years. Not only is he a million miles away from England, he’s hanging on by his fingertips at Lancashire.” The man has no motivational powers and very little humanity. www.wisden.com/stories/county-cricket/curious-case-haseeb-hameed

Allott is a complete knobhead.
If, and it is still a big if, Hameed does indeed return to form now as indicated against the students, no doubt Allott will try and take all the credit for it with these comments.

Of course he will - will be something along the lines of "I knew he was a good player and just wanted to see if he could work it out for himself".

Predictably released. Finally they have announced the obvious.
Hope he proves himself again next year at a top flight club.

Lancashire have opted not to renew England batsman Haseeb Hameed's contract when it expires at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old was informed on Friday of the Red Rose county's decision, and is now free to talk to other clubs.
The opener averaged nearly 44 in three Tests for England in India in 2016.
But he has struggled for form in the three years since, his century against Middlesex in April his first in the County Championship since August 2016.
Hameed has spent the last month playing for Lancashire's second XI, scoring an unbeaten 159 against Leicestershire's second string on 12 August.
A Lancashire statement said: "The club would like to thank Haseeb for all of his commitment and efforts since he made his first-class debut in the 2015 season, having come through the academy."

Lancs will no doubt replace him with Owais Shah, they seem to like recruiting from Myerscough College. He has at least averaged 50 in the seconds championship this year. Fluck (av 34) and Hameed the only others to score a century for the seconds in their championship.
Ironically, Hameed has scored the same number of hundreds (and double hundreds) for the Lancashire first team this year as Vilas. Had the students game been first class (all other county games against Loughborough were granted that status) he would have been their third highest first class run scorer this year behind Vilas and Jones (who also scored a hundred in that match) and he would have averaged 43.00 this season.

.....and is now free to talk to other clubs. All of them? Wonder how he got on with Peter Moores? Did they overlap?
I always thought he was unlucky last year. Being dropped for both Somerset matches last year (the old trafford game was a run fest the only game Lancs managed over 450 in the first innings, Jennings and Vilas with centuries) and then Taunton when they deparately needed someone who could play spin well (and his successful tests being in India.....) but went for Karl Brown instead. It was almost as if someone decided he would not be given the opportunity to score runs.
Of course with this decision in mind there was no way he would be allowed to play at Colwyn Bay, just in case he scored runs.

I think Peter Moores must’ve lost all credibility even to young players now after this season’s results.

not according to the White Rose Forum:
I guess he will have to make a decision between short term contract with a prominent county or longer term contract with a lesser county.

Made a duck in league cricket yesterday. I believe Gareth and Cross got an unbeaten century in the same match.
