Just scored 112 out of 220 against a very strong India side, with the next highest scores being 33 (Patterson-White), 27 (James) and 17 (extras). I hope Lancs are pleased with their foresight at having wantonly discarded the best home-grown batsman since John Crawley.

But how much longer would you have given him to try and rediscover some form? After his stellar 2016 season he scored one first class century in 55 innings and in 2018 his average was less than ten. |

But how much longer would you have given him to try and rediscover some form? After his stellar 2016 season he scored one first class century in 55 innings and in 2018 his average was less than ten. It depends on what the problem was. Hameed's renaissance suggests that the problem was with our batting coaches (in which case he was done a big favour by being sacked) but the chances of Lancs ever admitting this are zero. As a seasoned Lancs observer, I've always thought that being a good boy was more important to the club's hierarchy than being good at cricket. |
