Yeah, I think they've worked out the way to overcome county opposition to the Hundred and franchise cricket is to get their snouts in the trough.

As I’ve said a few times , so grateful to have high standard timed league cricket in this area . It means a lot more to me than professional cricket nowadays.

Vaughan deservedly getting pelters on Twitter for his characteristically inane contribution to the debate. I think the lines are pretty clearly drawn already and we've got a scrap to defend the championship in a recognisable form.

Going back to a Blast game at Headingley round about 2015 ish as usual it was televised and Ian Ward on comms at the time said and I quote "Wouldn't this be great, if it was Manchester against Leeds" It's all planned always has been

Saw a tweet from the action group which quoted Radio 5 presenter Mark Chapman who stated if overseas investment goes into the Hundread tthe future of county xcricket would be in danger That effectively what the last but one paragraph says in that cricinfo article. External investors would potentially blow the county game apart for short term gain. Why not? Where would there only interest lie.

Chris, talking to one of the stewards last night who is a big cricket fan. He was saying to me “ we needs specys like you back as members Des to fight from inside”. Sadly , I felt the battle was lost a long time ago and everyone has to decide the point at which he/she feels too little a part of it. Seeing that Manchester Originals crap on the gates confirms my choice.

Members forum on Monday (26th). There was a link on the website to get a zoom link but the item has been taken off the News page. I got the zoom link via e-mail...and will "attend" that way. This method only allows questions to be asked in advance not during the meeting.. From ESPN = The ECB and counties and are in the second phase of a three-part consultation, in the hoping of a decision in April 2024 to allow implementation for the 2025 season.
The ECB's preferred option is to open the hundred tournament up to private investors, to bring money into the English game. The specifics of the model remain up for discussion, with one possibility involving the addition of two new teams - most likely based in the south-west and north-east.
The most likely outcomes both involve the ECB handing 50% equity stakes in Hundred teams - which would become franchises - to their primary host counties. Surrey, for example, would be given a 50% stake in Oval Invincibles, while MCC, who own Lord's, would be provided a 50% stake in London Spirit. The idea of private investors involved disturbs me...
