I this will be the first of many this season. I had a look at the club website and it looks like they have the Curran brothers playing for them

Have updated the results with the links in between above.
Re the Currans, I only know one of them. Will is a left arm fast medium bowler who had a bit of first team cricket a few years back probably a bit early for him though he wasn’t disgraced.

Was a decent performance MickeyG though both teams bowled some wild stuff including Lancs Harvey Walker.
I always thought Rainford would win by twenty or thirty but when Jack Carney was in, he looked capable of changing the game very quickly. Harvey Walker also looked decent with bat .
Talking with Southport’s captain Dave Snellgrove, he thought that Rainford now look a really good side with such a range of bowling options. Opening bat Jason Login is so useful with his leg spin to destroy tails although his full toss to dismiss Basil Sultan was pretty lucky.
Wigan are looking threatening having beaten both Northern and Ormskirk. Things looking bad for Birkenhead Park, Newton Le Willows and New Brighton.

Wigan just like Rainford have quietly and effectively made themselves a very good Premier team. Birkenhead Park will be ok as their Sri Lanka Test bowler is imminent and they have enough batting. New Brighton will go down. Dread to think how much NLW are shelling out on their Lancs players and their overseas for a performance like that. But they should just about win enough games to be safe if Aspinwall, Morley and Blatherwick play enough to back up the excellent Walkden and Abdullah. Seems to be very much going down the line of the Rainhill model in using a big wallet to prop up a weak overall team though. S&B look to have splashed the cash too on Kingsley-Smith and Dalmeida but still think they will go down. Leigh have had a very disappointing start to the season but they will sort it out soon as they have too much talent in that team. Highfield, Liverpool, Sefton Park, Lytham and Bootle are setting the pace in Division 1. The Highfield overseas sounds like he could get them promoted this season. Also, keep an eye on Orrell who are unbeaten and seem to have had the toughest start to the season with their overseas looking just as good as he was in 2021 in the Prem. Colwyn Bay also got their first win on Saturday too and will be up there.

The missing scorecards are now above.
Good analysis by leftarmaround above. I agree that after seeing Birkenhead Park yesterday, they should be ok. Despite the low score, all their bats looked like they were capable. Park’s seam bowlers were very good though Rainford players went at the ball too hard.
I have been a pessimist in most aspects of my life and most cricket supporters tend to be pessimistic about their teams but this Rainford team has made me optimistic about their prospects virtually whatever the score and Gaskell and Dotters bowling was outstanding yesterday. I always thought Rainford would win. One hobby horse of mine is that medium pacers and above should never bowl more than 10 over spells and the former injured hamstring after 13.3 of Mohammed Abbas type bowling so hope that doesn’t keep him out long.
Man of the match however was Rainford keeper Will Threlkeld ( brother of Ellie) whose innings gave something to bowl at and who kept superbly.
Chatted to a few of the Park players afterwards ; nice people who clearly loved the game.

ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/6215556Thank goodness I didn’t go to that as I’ve often done. Why on earth NB batted when they won the toss I don’t know. They were going to lose anyway so why would you not at least try to get some bowling points? Maybe they just wanted to go home early. Wallasey up to fourth, four points ahead of Rainford who have a game in hand.

Will post summary scores some time tomorrow but for MickeyG ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/6215547Rainford up to third with game in hand! The bowling by both sides was not as bad as scores might indicate ; easy wicket, good atmospheric conditions good batting and some short boundaries probably meant whoever batted second would win. Andrew Pickavance, Rainford’s opening bowler whose 16 overs went for 97 said he would bowl worse and take a five fer.
