It was no more successful for them than it is for Lancs. Eventually , however, Dotters holed out unnecessarily.

Interesting Formby side is stuffed with talent. In addition to Brown, Hameed and Parry, Seward plays Cheshire and Oxford MCCU, Oldham plays Lancs 2s. Northern seem to have ex-Lancs 2s but probably no longer being considered: Grey and Laker both played a couple of seasons ago. And Leigh's Toby Bulcock played all Lancs age groups up to captain of the under 19s but never for the 2s. Tripathi ex-academy very early on ending playing first class at Northants.

Without Matt McKiernan and Karl Brown they are struggling a bit but still a thrilling win for Rainford. Dan Houghton was the only seam bowler for Rainford and having looked ahead of the game, they looked behind when his second spell failed to add to his one wicket.

Young leg spinner Agarwhol brought on I feel in desperation, got the anchor man opener with a full toss first ball and showed great temperament to take 5-28 on a stunningly beautiful evening on this lovely ground. He walked off stunned to be taking the applause.

No game for me today went to watch my first team at Tarleton all out for 90 and lost by 6 wickets however Tarleton 3rds were playing Kirkham 2nds on the other ground Kirkham declared on 318-2 with one opener hitting 218 which I think is a league recored before retiring the home side were 2-2 from 8 overs chasing or not chasing it down

Louis Botes allowed to bowl by Lancs; three overs for 11 opening. His 19 runs batting at number 9 was a good effort from 80. Toby Lester's 9 overs 1-39 not very impressive when the other opening bowler gets 5-21 ; don't know what Saunders does . May be a spinner given the stumping off him which may mean it was just spinner's conditions rather than Lester not using them well.

Stephen Croft 41 not out ( 3 4s and 3 6s hardly an innings of significance in the context) . Taylor Cornall didn't get a bowl but shared in the massacre of New Brighton who are surely destined for the drop two years after being champions ( sounds familiar).

Could only watch a few hours of this from Rainford being 90-1 to Lytham being 40-0. Extraordinary result really as pitch had enormously variable bounce particularly for the spinners and yet relatively high scores.

Finlow Smith , a Lancs Cricket Board under 15 player who lives in Isle of Man had an innings to forget. Dropped off a sitter on nought then lbw Stephen Croft for one. Not impressed today by Taylor Cornall's 6-0-28-0 but looked a good player batting though beaten a couple of times outside off stump by Dan Houghton. He was Finlo Smith's one wicket in his 6-0-36-1

Stephen Croft's innings had four fours and three sixes off 73 balls but looking at the scoreboard, looked to be a losing cause at one stage but eighth and ninth wicket pairs got Lytham home despite decent figures from Dotters and Houghton.
