Taylor Cornall 8-0-39-0.Lester didn’t bowl Croft out for 4,Lester for 0 and Cornall for 28. RAINFORD 71-1 (11.4) (P Farrar 37, Bailey 25*) v RAINHILL 67 (29) (Williams 27*; Dotters 4-29, Houghton 3-21) Result: Rainford won by 9 wickets Toss: Rainhill Points: Rainford (20 pts + 5 bowl pts), Rainhill (0 pts) ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3404925 Tyler McGladdery out for 12 to Dan Houghton before I got there. McGalddery said he would be putting in a complaint about the pitch but you need your bowlers to take more than one wicket to support that really. Rainford’s captain David Snellgrove broke a wrist in the pre match warm up which didn’t matter today but is not good for their relegation struggle and Cup Final.

Sadly not a ball bowled in Liverpool Competition today; something that very rarely happens.

Thaanks for that regular round-up Des, it's always interesting to see what the Lancs players are doing. But I have seen no mention of Hameed who seems to have gone off the radar since he and Jones were dropped. Do you know if he has made any subsequent appearances in the league?

Hi Werneth. I’m fairly sure that Hameed’s last league appearance for Formby was his 80 odd at Rainhill on Aug 5. He may have made some cup appearances on Sunday but that is all I know.

It would be to an exaggeration to say that I get excited about anything nowadays but still looking forward to spending a few Saturdays on pleasant grounds with non-limited overs proper cricket and without the ludicrous devaluation of the currency of the game, the run, that we have witnessed today.
I haven’t seen any list this winter of any moves between clubs so no doubt some will catch me out in my summaries.
From old competition website
The weekend's matches Friday 19th April 2019
The long winter is over, spring is here and with it the new cricket season.
In the ECB Premier League, reigning champions, Northern, entertain Rainhill whilst newly promoted Orrell Red Triangle play their first ever match in the top flight when they entertain last season's runners up, Ormskirk.
The most ridiculous of fixtures is that of Colwyn Bay having to face the 260 mile round trip to Lytham on Easter Saturday. The powers that be must have had their brains somewhere else when that fixture came out of the hat.
Southport and Birkdale, First Division winners last season, have to wait until Monday for their first match when they take on Formby at Cricket Path.
There's a west coast derby in the First Division at Sea Cop were Fleetwood Hesketh host neighbours Ainsdale.
Wigan face Highfield in a Wigan derby at Bull Hey.
Last season's Second Division winners Old Xaverians and runners up, Northop Hall, meet at Beaconsfield Road.
Liverpool travel to newcomers Norley Hall who make their début in the Liverpool Competition.

I haven’t seen any list this winter of any moves between clubs so no doubt some will catch me out in my summaries. Not seen a full list, not even online on the Liverpool Echo website, but:Tyler McGladdery has gone to Ormskirk from RainhillDan Houghton has gone to NorthernMattie McKiernan returned to LeighRoss Zelem has joined Lytham but I suspect all have missed out on Lancs careers. The Lancs seconds seem to be young these days and Cheshire based! I see also Jesse Ryder is at New Brighton and Tatenda Taibu joinns Formby

Thanks for the info above Chris Good starts for new clubs for Tyler McGladdery and Taylor Cornall, both who have played for Lancashire 2nds though only one in a winning cause. Great result for promoted Orrell LEIGH 204- (53.0 overs) (Foster 63, Hulbert 51, Pearson 27*, Farrar 26, Davies 26; Ruikar 4-62) v WALLASEY 163-7 (52) (DM Beaver 50, Leckey 24*; Pearson 3-29, Rotherham 3-39) Result: match drawn Toss: Leigh Points: Leigh (4 bat pts + 3 bowl pts), Wallasey (3 bat pts + 4 bowl pts,) ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763108 No real county interest here with Matt McKiernan not playing LYTHAM 108-8 (53) (Holden 31, Roberts 20; Jenkins 5-43) v COLWYN BAY 203-4d (55) (Westwell 60, Campion 53*, Gidlow 41) Result: match drawn Toss: Colwyn Bay Points: Lytham (1 bat pt + 2 bowl pts), Colwyn Bay (4 bat pts + 4 bowl pts) ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763110 Ross Zelem’s appearances for Lancs seconds several years ago now. ORRELL RED TRIANGLE 193 (49.2) (R Everett 78, Siddiq Patel 40, AJ Mottram 78; Barnes 4-24, Hartley 4-43) v ORMSKIRK 191 (40.5) (McGladdery 77, Robinson 35, Lavelle 30; Heeley 3-21, Ali Sartaj 3-53) Result: Orrell Red Triangle won by 2 runs Toss: Orrell Red Triangle Points: Orrell Red Triangle (20 pts + 4 bat pts), Ormskirk (4 bat pts + 5 bowl pts) ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763160 Tyler McGladdery 77 off 94 balls with 10 4s and a 6 in a losing cause for his new club. George Lavelle 30 off 35 balls before being run out which was probably crucial. He did not keep wicket. Tom Hartley 16.2-2-43-4 but made a duck.

The other fixture between Formby and Southport Birkdale takes place on the bank holiday Monday . Will be going to it but not sure if I have Gary Keedy to look forward to or not; hoping he hasn’t retired. Yesterday I went to the first division game at Rainford where Prestatyn were the visitors. The reduction in quality from the Premier League I was watching last year was pretty apparent especially with Rainford having lost Dan Houghton and Prestatyn having lost several players to the Premier League. Good performance from John Dotters and pity he was out with a century there for the taking. ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3765258 The ground looked an absolute picture with blossom of various colours on the trees.

FORMBY 221-9 (49.4) (Oldham 64, Sutton 59, Ketteringham 32; Firth 3-24, Keedy 3-67) v SOUTHPORT AND BIRKDALE 220-9d (55) (Yates 53, Affleck 25, Gailey 22) Result: Formby won by 1 wicket Toss: Southport and Birkdale Points: Formby (20 pts + 4 bowl pts), Southport and Birkdale (5 bat pts + 4 bowl pts) ldcc.play-cricket.com/website/results/3763096 This match between Formby,( who no longer have Parry, Hameed and Saqib ) and promoted Southport was a real thriller . All four results were possible to the fourth ball of the last over when the game took its final twist and Formby edged home ; a tie would have been a just result. George Burrows bowled three tidy spells for Formby including taking the wicket of Southport’s highest scorer, Bradley Yates in his 10 overs 24-2. I backed Formby to get the 220 runs with some comfort and they started off very quickly. Even after Gary Keedy came on, Ollie Sutton continued to look very good and in that period of the game, off spinner, Chris Cunningham exerted more control . However, once Sutton had gone both spinners slowed the scoring rate and whilst Lancs’ Sam Oldham played a very composed 64 off 96 balls with 11 fours, he holed out unnecessarily off Keedy. The odds kept changing but the ninth wicket went down with eleven needed and a Formby win looked the least likely result. However, in last over bowled by captain Chris Firth who had been excellent until then , Formby got home. In the end at least a couple of dropped catches off Keedy were probably decisive. By common consent of both sets of supporters , a “proper game of cricket” and one very much enjoyed by the novice I took along.
