Good first day and a few miles in the legs. Godleman can be an awkward player to bowl to and he was the only one to put up any real resistance. I had hoped it was going to be a proper four day match I hate all this 244 for 13 nonsense. Maybe they are not confident of Derbyshire being able to make it last more than 3 days. Let's see how we bat tomorrow.

Have to agree cameras at different angles instead of just the two behind the bowlers arm, when they get the local commentary sync will be worth viewing when working from bedroom on match days
Anyway here's the Lancs Pravda report
Lancashire returned to Emirates Old Trafford for the first time in 2021 and took 12 wickets on the opening day of their final pre-season friendly against Derbyshire.
The wickets were shared around the attack with seamers Saqib Mahmood (2/37), Josh Bohannon (2/24) and Jack Blatherwick (2/30) the main contributors.
Derbyshire enjoyed the better of the morning session, reaching 87-2 at lunch following Billy Godleman's 44 - Danny Lamb (1/26) and Bohannon with the Lancashire wickets.
The afternoon brought about a flurry of dismissals as the visitors were reduced to 135-6, Mahmood striking with two almost identical LBWs while Steven Croft produced a superb run out of Matthew Critchley (22).
Lancashire continued to make inroads and - due to a pre-match agreement that Derbyshire would bat the entire day - when the 9th and 10th wickets fell to Blatherwick, his first for the Red Rose, the visitors returned to bat out the remainder of the evening session.
Two further wickets were claimed by Bohannon and George Balderson (1/14) in the final hour and Derbyshire closed on 244 for the loss of 12 wickets. The play continues tomorrow at Emirates Old Trafford when Lancashire will bat for 90 overs.

Fantastic innings from Davies maturing into a fine player after being player of the year in 2020. Hard to open and keep it's a big ask as his runs are going to be vital to our fortunes. He has a history of finger injuries keeping and I just hope he can avoid them.
I don't know if Wells can shake off his hamstring problems in time for the first game. If they think he should be in I always thought it would be Jones or Bohannon at risk but Jennings hasn't scored meaningful runs for a few years. If Hameed was a championship specialist who didn't produce for a few years then Jennings should be judged on the same criteria come September.

Alex Davies batted all day to post an unbeaten century on the second day of Lancashire's pre-season friendly with Derbyshire.
In their final pre-season fixture before the 2021 season gets underway next week, Lancashire's batsmen made the most of a full day in the middle - in favourable conditions for batting - after watching their bowlers take 12 wickets on the opening day.
The home side were under pressure early on when both Keaton Jennings (1) and Josh Bohannon fell cheaply (0) but after Steven Croft joined Davies out in the middle, the runs started to flow.
The pair guided Lancashire into lunch at 59-2, before upping the scoring rate during the afternoon session. Shortly after Davies brought up his half-century, Croft fell for 37 top-edging one off Fynn Hudson-Prentice (1/20).
Davies - along with captain Dane Vilas - continued to motor and, immediately after the tea interval, reached a well-earned three figures from 168 balls.
Vilas (39) became Sam Conners' (2/36) second victim of the day before Rob Jones (3), George Balderson (9) and Danny Lamb (11) were all dismissed before stumps, leaving Davies unbeaten on 130.
Lancashire closed on 240-7 with Davies batting through the entire day at Emirates Old Trafford, scoring 21 fours along the way, the opener looking in fine touch ahead of next week's LV= County Championship curtain raiser with Sussex.

Luke Wood has appeared in the bowling attack for today's play, which is good news for next week. And with spin seemingly not having much effect, I dare say the XI for the Sussex game (which has been moved from Hove to Old Trafford) will be the first 11 players named in the opening post of this thread, but with Wood inserted for Hartley.
