I agree Wood and Overton are first in line but the odds against Saqib playing are shortening – Jimmy has also picked up an injury.

Despicable ECB , Silverwood and co will probably misuse Saquib as they have Jack Leach and Craig Overton who they’ve had carrying drinks all summer. In particular, Jack Leach’s treatment has been absolutely despicable.

It's hard to place blame without knowing exactly what Mahmood's demands are which have led to a deadlock. If he wanted terms that set him above the rest of the squad, the club would be right to hold out I don't blame any player for maximising his earnings in what is a short career but Mahmood in particular owes so much of his current success to Lancashire, both through the specialist coaching over the years and the medical care for his countless injuries.

Very true he does owe the club alot and injuries stopped him playing much for a couple of seasons.
If we lost two home grown players to Warwickshire you would have to ask why they can find the money for quality players but we aren't willing to.
It's a members club that operates as a cricket club the profits don't go to shareholders and the members would see retaining a strong team as a priority. We keep being told the business operates to support the cricket but so often I see the cricket being an irritation to those who run the club.

Talented boy, and yes LCCC have been patient with him, but would it such a big loss if he moves back to Birmingham. He's got a great chance to establish himself as a Test bowler this Summer, and if he does, and I expect him too, we won't see much of him in the longer format going forward anyway.
It would also help Josh Boyden, who was mighty impressive at the recent World Cup get that one step closer to first-team consideration.

Stress fracture

That is just absolutely dreadful news, not even so much for Lancashire but devastating for the player himself.
I heard somebody in the test commentary in the winter comparing him with Waqar Younis. Waqar achieved plenty after the disappointment of missing the World Cup in 92 with a stress fracture but Saqib has such a bad injury history you feel and fear for him.

It is bad news, I was only reading the other day that his scans were clear.
It does seem that whoever England line up to replace Anderson and Broad is or becomes injury prone.

Warwickshire to make an official approach for Saq Surprising in view of his injury problems - past and present. Interesting to compare his career with Livingstones. Both their 1st class debuts were in 2016 and, up the beginning of this season, Liam has played in 56 1st class games for Lancashire and Saq only 23.....

Difficult to see Lancs being willing to let Saqib go: we're not exactly overrun with classy seamers. Time Warwickshire thought about developing young players of their own. How many of their team yesterday began their careers at Edgbaston?
Answer: 4. Lancs had 7 home-grown players and it would have been 8 if Saqib had not been injured.

There was an article in the Cricketer saying it looks as though Mo Ali and Ed Barnard are on their way to Edgbaston from Worcester at the end of the season. Mo Ali did start his career at Warwickshire but not sure he played a game before he moved to Worcester.
