Are there any plans to replace Hasan Ali in the championship? The bowling is going to look a little workaday without him and Jimmy, particularly if Parky gets called up.

Who was it who was worried about Tom Bailey not taking wickets recently? He really is top quality. Still think he is short of wickets this season, and from now on in he will be carrying the bowling as we lose Mahmood to injury, Anderson to England and Hasan Ali ends his short spell, although it looks like we will keep Parkinson, except he might still be in the ODI squad. Bailey, Wood, Balderson, Lamb and Hartley. Blatherwick playing by rotation.
Bailey v Kent: 1/51 & 1/37, v Gloucs: rested, v Hants 1/39 & 0/55
First three games: 3/182 improved since: 4 wickets a match (Warwickshire and Yorkshire)I suppose with the bat ruling the game at the moment it is no surprise that bowling figures are poorer. Taking into account the current game the strike rates are Bailey 78 balls, Anderson 68 and Hasan Ali 45 balls....and Parky 68 balls.

14-4 can’t see the tail putting on a 100 either. Wood in next. Look forward to reading Ken Grime’s report.

Lancs paying the price for poor bowling this morning. ....and this is before our 'best' bowlers disappear. Rain currently providing some relief.

Sounds like Essex are using one of the new batch of Duke balls.

I don't know about anybody else but in this particular game 6 CC games on the bounce appears to have caught up with the players. Other than Southampton I've been to every day of cricket they have played and these last 2 day's have been by far the worst. There's been sloppiness in the field, after being brilliant Hassan and Parky have been well below par and the less said about today's batting the better. I've also sensed a feeling of flatness and lack of energy both in the field and the bowling, it's pretty understandable particularly with the bowling when the Lancs bowlers toiled for the final 2 day's at Headingley then in this game they have to bowl first yet again after Essex win the toss (that's 1 win out of 6 for Dane this season to compliment his 3 wins out of 15 tosses last season!). Just my thoughts on what's gone on this last couple of day's, hopefully the lower order dig in tomorrow.

Pretty accurate assessment: Lancs have looked a tired side in this match. Fielding was sloppy yesterday and bowling this morning was well below par. Essex should have been tumbled out for 320/330 max but they were given loads of loose stuff to hit and it took an outstanding run-out to dismiss them. Porter and Cook bowled well but they were bowling to batsmen whose minds were scrambled by having spent too long in the field and by the knowledge that they had blown a good chance to take charge of the match. I think the best we can hope for now is a low scoring draw.
I don't understand why Croft, a good no.6, is batting at 4.

Facing a fresh Cook and Porter, I doubt Lancs will reach 100, and could face 5 sessions to save the game, which I expect will be beyond them, without checking the weather forecast.
