Totally agree Gareth. On the Yorkshire forum they were saying that Jennings cost us the chance to win by not accelerating and were saying that he did exactly the same with Durham many years earlier. You have to allow for bias of course but they said they were relieved they didn’t have to watch him often.
Also typical Lancashire was one slip with Anderson bowling to Root with us hundreds ahead and ball goes through second slip in the air.

Looking at the CC table shows the importance now of not losing any games. Warks have won one more game than Surrey but are 2nd in the table behind them because, unlike Surrey, they have lost a game. Same reason why Yorks are ahead of us in the same table...
If you look at Northants without a win and with just one loss and five draws they are ahead of Somerset who have won twice and lost four.. Perhaps you now need slow and steady batters who will grind out big scores??

Good post MITS. The point has been made on the Somerset forum that Kent and Northants just seem to be preparing roads as strategy to not lose home games.
I don’t know what the answer is with cricket point scoring systems as law of unintended consequences always seems to come in. Something to be said for match referee giving some sort of points verdict to stop the nonsense of games like the recent Roses match where Lancashire were much the better side but only got one point more. However, I’m sure there would be faults with that. It was real justice however that Yorkshire didn’t win the other day.
