Great effort by Derbyshire to chase down an almost impossible total. More than once it looked as if they could do it but losing Brooke's wicket was the last nail in the coffin. Wonder what would have happened if Masood hadn't got himself run out? I don't like pitches as flat as this - they underline all the faults of the format.

What the crowd like in the afternoon, anyone know? Seems below average from the live stream, and even fewer staying for the evening headline game.

Yes, seemed a bit thin but hardly surprising. Playing T20 in a block may suit the players and administrators but it doesn't suit the spectators, especially when there are four home games in a single week. Moreover, of those who are willing to turn up to cricket for four days in a week most thoroughly dislike T20. Much better when T20 was on Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons once a week, which iirc was what we all voted for not many years ago.

But there were quite a few families there which was good to see. Most people included me drifted away before the womens fixture but some people were staying for both matches. When I booked my ticket most of the seats in the block I was sitting weren't available but there were lots of empty seats. So I assume members are pre-booking tickets which they don't take up. I don't see the point of having to pre-book T20 tickets for games other than Yorkshire and a quarter final if we get there!

I have been to the Yorkshire and Derbyshire games and that is enough in one week. Would have gone again next week if there had been a home game.

The present hectic cycle of games is to accommodate the completely pointless "Hundred", which is nothing more than a circus act. The only saving grace is that Finals Day won't be held on a rainy day in September.

Buttler to replace Parkinson? Spin options from Livi, Hartley and David even an over from Croft, to compliment Gleeson, Wood plus Lamb? Afterall Boult played in the IPL final and went straight into the NZ test side.

That should work OK, although Lamb needs to score some runs and stop bowling pies. If he doesn't, I'd bring in Morley. The one saving grace of losing Parkinson is that we now have a string of away games at grounds where he might be less effective. Watched Leicestershire defend a paltry 153 against Warwickshire this afternoon. They bowled really well on a grippy pitch that suited their style and took some very good catches, although some of their ground fielding was a bit sloppy. Apart from Davies, the Warwickshire batters didn't have a clue how to play when the ball wasn't coming on. Brathwaite gave it a good biff at the end but too little, too late. I bet Leics would rather play at Edgbaston than Grace Road any day.

Given how many of the team bowl decent white ball spin I would have replaced Parky with a batter but the only one in the squad is Luke Wells. Surely one of the young lads in the second xi is more suited to this form than Luke?
