When Davies reached his century he made a great point of indicating the Warwickshire badge on his cap and when he was dismissed he ignored the attempts of at least one Lancs player to offer congratulations. This suggests that his departure from Lancs was rancorous and that he feels resentful about it. I think they all kiss the badge these days. Just watched back the stream on you tube. An excited commentator had Davies dropped by Bailey on 99, although later adding not sure how much Bailey got of the chance. On dismissal he put a caveat to him ignoring Rob Jones’ handshake that perhaps he didn’t see Jones, adding he later shook Bohannon’s hand. To be fair, he didn’t think he hit it, and maybe would not have expected Jones to run up behind him from slip.
Kept the stream rolling in the background as I type only to hear that Bohannon dropped Norwell off Williams at 304/9. Would have been his 5fer. Brookes seemed to be thumping everything, their 3rd hundred was in 116 balls.

87 for 3 at lunch. One fewer wicket would have made it a good morning for Lancs. Pity Croft had a rush of blood. Jennings has looked badly out of nick since the break for T20 and Bohannon can't buy a run at the moment. To have a chance of winning we need to get to tea still only three down; four/five down we can survive with a draw.

Just having a look at the run out of Vilas with pausing. Not very clear but what is clear is that any benefit that might once have gone to the batsman no longer applies.

Agree Richard, it looked not out to me on the replay. Scott Read, not known for being controversial said he thought it was not out after watching numerous replays. Understand there was a bit of argy bargy between Davies and Croft, not clear if it was today or earlier in the match. Croft looked like he received a telling off from the umpires after the Vilas dismissal in the first innings.

Don't know how the umpire could give Vilas out. He has to be certain and there was no way he could have been. I expect Lancs will give it a go until they lose a couple then they'll try to shut up shop.

Giving it a good go here. Let's see what happens with the new ball.

Well done Lancs especially Jones and Balderson who has had a run of low scores. I thought we'd go for the draw once Vilas had gone. I wonder if we had been at full strength whether Warks would have declared?? Win keeps us in touch with Surrey...

I think the declaration was reasonable: 4 overs at full tilt to try and grab a bonus wicket. I certainly thought Warwickshire had more than enough runs and at 19 for 2 our prospects looked grim. When Vilas was run out ( a highly questionable decision) I thought that was it but didn't reckon with a newly re-born Jones or with the way the pitch flattened out and became easy paced. Turns out to have been a good toss to lose!
Even so, to chase down 329 was a great achievement which has brought our faltering CC campaign back to life. Let's hope Jennings and Bohannon recover their early season form.

They must have been worried about their ability to take 10 wickets.Admin Avatar Jun 15, 2022 18:23:52 GMT 1 Admin said: Win from a no ball great victory Win from two consecutive no-balls, did Brookes decide to deny Wells the winning runs?
