The win is a good example of the roller coaster nature of longer forms of cricket. Yesterday afternoon at 95 for 5 there seemed to be a chance that Warwickshire might be 150 all out and Lancs maybe achieving a win in three days. When Vilas was out today with over 60 overs remaining I thought even a draw might be difficult, so full credit to the two batsmen and Balderson for the way they finished the match off.

As I posted earlier, the body language from Davies when dismissed suggested that there is ill-feeling between him and the Lancs management. However, I would not necessarily blame Davies without knowing a great deal more about why he left. Lancs don't exactly have a great record in man management!

Good win with several key players missing. I considered going to the game yesterday and was pleased I hadn't when I saw the score at lunch.

Likewise. Edgbaston is only half an hour away from where I live so I would normally have gone but just didn't fancy watching us go down in a heap. At 19 for 2 this looked heavy odds-on. Certainly didn't reckon on the pitch flattening out so nicely after lunch (taking nothing away from a monumental effort by Wells).

A great victory! I was there for 3 of the days including the last one, Edgbaston is my favourite ground, great view on the members balcony and facilities right there. I think Old Trafford is the only major test ground where ordinary members can't sit high up behind the bowlers arm.

I only found this result out part way through today after a difficult day personally yesterday. Absolutely delighted, especially for Jones and to beat Warwickshire who are always one of my least favourite counties.
Hardly surprised about Chapple even if it had been a less bristly character than Davies. Certainly, up to last season he hadn’t spoken to Steve Mullaney since he left.

Edgbaston is my favourite ground, great view on the members balcony and facilities right there. I think Old Trafford is the only major test ground where ordinary members can't sit high up behind the bowlers arm. Since it was redeveloped, there's no doubt that the view from the members' balcony at Edgbaston is outstanding and beats anything routinely available at OT. I used to enjoy the view at OT from the top balcony of the pavilion but now that's reserved for money. That said, I preferred sitting in the Wyatt Stand at the old Edgbaston with its view over the rickety wooden pavilion to the trees in Cannon Hill Park. Now, if you're not in the members' section, you can feel very hemmed in by the new stand, which resembles a cliff face. Re the Chapple/Davies limp handshake: Chapple seems to think that players owe a duty of loyalty to the club, without considering that loyalty cuts both ways and that there are very many ex-Lancs players who may well feel that the club showed very little loyalty to them in moments of crisis.

Great spell by Williams and a great ball by Bailey to dismiss Burgess but, unfortunately, our bowling attack is not strong enough overall for us to cash in. There's nothing in the pitch for Parkinson and Vilas can't risk bowling Lamb so we'll probably be chasing a few too many and end up batting out for a draw. Can anyone shed any light on Lamb's thoroughly disappointing season so far? He's scoring no runs and taking very few wickets at a very expensive rate. Agreed, really shows that more fire power needed and Balderson and Lamb can’t really be played together in a four man pace bowling unit. Least not on current form. Neither really doing the business as far as runs are concerned either. Balderson: 7, 23*, 5, 15, 4*, 11, 4, 19 Lamb: 16, 41*, 3, 18
What price Williams seeing out the season with Lancs? Adds predictability (which could of course be hammered these days) to the 50 over team then the last few championship games - on the assumption no announcement means no decision yet, so no one else in mind. The’d have to give him a number, though.There. Found it. Knew I’d written it somewhere.
