I did it this morning. Sh*te survey. But I’m baised as I’m a member of a County Cricket Club, that people like them never mention. Have complained bitterly expect to be duly ignored. The ECB dug this hole: reap what you sow etc, by doing exactly Gidney (I’ve only watched his intro so far) is claiming members should not do: impose / fixate on one format without thinking of the consequential ripples elsewhere. They brought in franchise cricket not only ignoring the rest of domestic cricket in the UK, but aggressively marketing it against existing county cricket. They have never demonstrated how franchise cricket can sit alongside the other formats. Clueless and Irresponsible. They would be behaving actually like a cuckoo does, except it’s their own nest that they are kicking eggs from.I wonder how they will demonstrate - other than financially - what the role is for franshise cricket in terms of the Performance of the England Cricket Team?Surely the Hundred is adding to the stress/ fatigue on international one day/ T20 players. If the ECB want to reduce the stress/ fatigue on international players they need to either scrap the Hundred or reduce the number of international T20 and one day matches.

The ECB can’t survive, and allegedly some counties can’t survive without the broadcast income which is more or less exclusively due to international and franchise games. The ECB can, and probably would take their ball away, if they don’t win the vote.

I agree it does come down to money. But money isn't just about income it is also about expenditure and financial controls. I'm not suggesting the England team should stay in the local youth hostel when they are on tour but I am not convinced that professional sports bodies and clubs have the best financial management. The unfortunate Andy Hayhurst incident springs to mind.

I suspect that the solution to the fixture congestion at County level will be to move say 2 CC games from April/May into August and either abolish the RLO/50 Over or make it a knock-out competition in April/May. Today's team is still pretty strong without the Hundred/Test Players. Perhaps the only one we are missing today is Parky.

ECB's proposals will be issued on the 9th September and on the 20th the counties will have to vote yes or no. So very little time for any discussion.

One of the ideas floating around is to play a regional red ball competition of combined sides in August three days games 110 overs per day or a second XI one day copetition aka RLC. Opposition to the planned reduction is growing

I always remember my mum being upset (though I think it was a little fake, never having watched cricket herself) that a famous footballer said on local radio that cricket was just for the gap between football seasons.
It appears now that the ECB agree with him.

Well it's an illustration of the golden rule...he who has the gold (sky) makes the rules! I suspect this also down to it being an Ashes series where you get the greatest public interest.
Can't see the point in these cobbled together August replacements for county cricket.. Interesting there is no mention of the 50 over comp...
