14 match first class season but: thecricketer.com reporting:
It has not yet been determined how those 14 fixtures will be split in terms of divisions, with counties ultimately having the final say in the makeup of the competition.
How the 2024 competition - and the rest of the calendar - is structured remains unclear, however. The ECB released research and initial findings on Friday, compiled in association with the sports intelligence agency Twenty First Group, which indicate the high-performance review's preferred direction is to reduce the number of teams in the top division of the Championship, in an effort to create a "best versus best" scenario.
The opportunity for county players to play overseas prior to an international call-up is also addressed, with a return of a pre-season North v South series - probably in the UAE - on the table for consideration, so to is a "best possible quality" 50-over competition in April, and the suggestion of playing red-ball cricket alongside The Hundred in August.
ECB look like they are tryng to hide document. Difficult to find but it’s here: resources.ecb.co.uk/ecb/document/2022/08/25/5ed38d62-72c0-45d3-9514-aa3b310ca067/Men-s-High-Performance-Review-Consultation-Material-FCCs.pdf

Document is a fine collection of management consultant b.s. Ludicrous to demand a reduction in the amount of cricket played having added 30+ games to the schedule with the Hundred.....

Worth a read, excellent analysis of bias within the HPR. Says it all really, any comments Mr. Strauss? beingoutsidecricket.com/2022...mance-reviews/Lies, Damn Lies and High Performance Review. In particular liked the hidden stat about how much cricket India play, and how franchise cricket in England is only really developing cricketers to play franchise cricket round the world, nothing to help Team England's performance.

It’s not even doing that. They won’t know what to do from the 101st ball onwards.

Good article thank you for posting. I spent much of my working career analysing and presenting data so I appreciated the comments about the graphs. The authors of the report wouldn't have lasted long at some of my employers.

It's a Premier League of 6 counties with two feeder leagues of 6 counties with the winner of each feeder league playing each other to decide promotionn, played June, July, September. 50 over comp in April, Blast starting in May For those in the feeder league if you lose two games early on basically means your season is over

I assume everybody plays 10x 4 day games. Will be difficult for teams to get out of the feeder leagues. Talented players will be pushing to get a contract with a "premier team". Perennial feeder teams will concentrate on the white ball game.
No county cricket in August?

No county cricket in August?Has to be voted in by County Chairman which will be a hard sell

The "Premier League" will end up being Surrey, Lancs, Yorks, Warks, Notts and Middlesex at some point, i.e. the big six. Maybe Essex and Hants will interrupt it seeing as someone has to go up and down. Money normally rises to the top eventually.
A top league of 8 where everyone plays everyone else home and away for a total of 14 would be best.

Some posts from the Middlesex forum in particular the criticisms of the review in the post from Radlett Ronnie dated 18 August at 18:52
Also, further along the thread, there is an interview with the Middlesex CEO about this; make of it what you will..
