Totally ridiculous situation when the teams battling for promotion/ relegation don't know how many teams are going up and down.

Found on another forum and source unknown but sounds plausible.
"ECB chair Richard Thompson stated there will be no vote on radical reforms at next week's chairs' meeting. The 2023 season will largely follow the 2022 one with minor tweaks.
The radical reforms Strauss is demanding the counties agree to or else are to be discussed during the autumn. No formal date exists for a vote but well-placed sources tell me that November is the likely timing."

Lancs have confirmed that the ECB meeting to decide on any changes to the game on the 20th is being postponed and also that any proposals from the ECB will not now be issued until after the 19th.
In view of this they have cancelled the members' meeting due to take place on the 19th.....

Via George Dobell.. Very much as rumoured....Looks like they have ignored the widespread opposition so still 10 CC games, Premier division with 2 lower feeder divsions, RLO to April..etc etc.

Anyone else think that Lancashire or Gidney's interest in playing County Championship in August could be down to his belief that Lancashire have one of the best squads to cope with the loss of 7 or 8 franchise players? They did not see much of Livingstone, Buttler, Mahmood, Gleeson this year. Only Wood and Salt and would clearly miss Parkinson and Hartley. But with an equivalent signing to Sundar they could cope. After all, except Hurt and Lavelle the side that went to final last week in the RL50 was pretty much a championship side. Could he envisage rich County Championship pickings over the next 5 to 6 years thinking Lancs could pick up easy points in the championship if there were two August games?

If Gidney sees it that way, a special place in hell should be reserved for him.

So theer is a board meeting tomorrow and they will make their recommendations!!!!!!! Can guess what that will be
As a Club, we are currently digesting this information and the proposals will be discussed at length during Lancashire Cricket’s upcoming Board meeting which takes place on Friday 23 September 2022. Following the Board meeting, we will communicate the Board’s recommendations and details of the next steps.
Lancashire Cricket remain committed to ensuring that, ahead of any County Chairs’ vote taking place on changes to the domestic schedule (currently anticipated only from 2024 season), we will honour our commitment to Members that they will be able to vote on the proposals.

Difficult to imagine 2/3 of counties voting for these proposals. I predict the proposals will be amended to reinstate 14 T20 Blast games and it might get through.
I just think it's laughable that because the RL50 has been so popular they're going to move it to reduce competition for the Crisp Packet Cup (Hundred).

What happens to County Cricket in August is vague. Sounds to me that it would be up to each County to arrange a few friendlies. I think the One Day Cup has worked well the last two years running along side the Hundred.
If the One Day Cup is a straight knockout half the counties will only have one serious game before May.

BBC's Kevin Howells did a piece on this in today's lunch interval. Interviewed Strauss - usual bs - Alex Stewart and the chairman of Sussex. Alex a bit non-commital to be expected but complained about how many players Surrey lost to the Hundred and so wasn't keen on playing any CC or the RLO in August. Though he did say that the cause of all these problems was the Hundred.
He and the Sussex chairman were dismissive of the idea of non-CC 1st class "festival" in August as meaningless games. Sussex chairman also concerned at the loss of two home T20s which would reduce profits by £200,000.
BBC article has 500 comments below - most negative. BBC calculate that these proposals will reduce the total volume of cricket by 15% so can we expect a similar reductions in membership fees and players' salaries...
