The 2 lads you mention gareth are both boundry hitters and score there runs a hell of a lot quicker than jones, There again Edrich and boycott scored there runs a lot quicker than jones,Both Lavelle and Bell should be regulars in all forms of cricket for lancs next season ,Under this management ship somehow i dont think the lads will be Bell should be replacing Vilas at 5 without the gloves and Salt(If available) or Lavelle at 6 with the gloves. Jones captain of the 2s. Think Bohannon deserves another season at 3 but oppositions have worked out he’s an easy lbw candidate early in his innings. Bohannon Vilas Bell Salt/Lavelle Would be my middle order

Worth a shout out after his efforts in the Cup. Maybe developing into a specialist bat?

Worth a shout out after his efforts in the Cup. Maybe developing into a specialist bat? Imagine we'll rotate the keepers right? My top 6 for next season: Jennings Wells/Singh Balderson Bohannon Overseas Bell

My top 6 for next season: Jennings Wells/Singh Balderson Bohannon Overseas Bell I broadly agree with that. I think Balderson's future is as a specialist batsmen and occasional bowler. I would consider opening with Balderson and having Wells at 4. Phil Salt seems to be out of England's plans so he should be available again outside of the IPL and 100.

Would always play Wells, he has been terrific since he came from Sussex, bowling and v fielding very useful as well.
I thought Singh was an all-rounder, isn't he an offie? No reason why he can't open as well of course.

It's Lancashire who are in search of spinners and seem, from time to time, to need to turn everyone into all rounders. Bailey, Bell, Wells, Livingstone, Bohannon even at first had to bowl a bit. ....

Doesn't Surrey have this model of a team of nearly all all rounders? Maybe there is something in it.

No reason why he can't open as well of course. Well I disagree with the fielding part. Last season he dropped 17 catches in slip. Half way through this season he has been moved out of the slips. We need to get the slips right next season. Rob Jones seemed quite good there but he's gone. Seems Bohannon is first slip now with Jennings second.

Not seen it, was the run-out his fault?

Not seen it, was the run-out his fault? nerves, cut to backward point, half fielded, he set off but there was no run, other fielder nearby at gully-ish picked up threw with a direct hit. Some suggestion Bell's bat stuck in the ground when he tried to run his bat in. Shame he did not dive. Close umpire took his time.

Cheers, thanks for that. Shame for the lad. Strange with no time pressure why he set off for a single, what do they say never run for a miss-field, and shouldn't Blatherwick as the senior pro have been screaming NO instantly as it was his call.

It's a shame Bailey or Jennings were not still batting with Bell, a more experienced pro might have been able to talk to Bell and keep him calm and be more alert to the risk of attempting a foolish run.

Those were my thoughts as well. He should get many more opportunities, though. Remember John Abrahams declared when Neil Fairbrother was 99 not out before his maiden ton. He didn't turn out too bad.
