At Edgbaston we win the toss and chose to bat on a slow wicket favouring spin. Tonight we win the toss and elect to bowl on an excellent batting wicket. I'm not an international cricketer but I do wonder about our decision making.

Better than against the Bears. Need a win now up at Durham tomorrow. Buttler a let down.

Livingstone isn't the sharpest is he. Wins the toss and struggles to remember what he was going to do.
It's not like there aren't any senior players who could do the job.
Did we have any plan on who is going to bowl? Just seems to made up on the hoof.
We generally play some brainless cricket and under achieve.

I wonder if anyone does their homework? It's well known that Yorkshire love to bat first as their record at chasing is pretty poor, so what do we do? Win the toss and let them do what they like to do.
I haven't seen the interviews, so don't know for certain that Yorkshire would have batted; I know they usually ask the captain who loses the toss so someone will probably know.
That's not to say of course that had we batted first, we'd might have made 150 all out and lost anyway, but we should try and make the most of any perceived advantage.

They indeed were happy to bat first.

Absolutely brainless putting Yorkshire in on a slow, low pitch but even worse was the inability of our IPL "stars" to move their feet against Yorkshire's pace-off attack. Livingstone's handling of the bowling wasn't great either: far too many bowlers used and no obvious bowling plan.

Still stings losing to that lot, even in a format I despise, and you'd think at my vintage I'd be well it's only a game, just beat them next time. Not a chance.

What really stings is that very few of the Yorkshire players would get anywhere near the Lancs side but they looked like a team and we didn't.

Teams are surely built by circumstances, captains and coaches.
Missed tonight but Mal Loye and even Scott Read were talking about egos after the Warwickshire game with no attempt to rebuild. Thought they could rebuild by playing 6 and out.

“Game not a sell out either” Allegedly was but “ traffic problems” made people late.

“Game not a sell out either” Allegedly was but “ traffic problems” made people late. Middle tier of the rugby stand completely empty, they are always sell outs these games except for the times they are not, the usual Middlesex/Surrey game usually 30,000 sell out top decks of three stands empty.

Teams are surely built by circumstances, captains and coaches.I agree but it strikes me that "building" a team in the way you mean is a medium/long term project and doesn't apply to modern T20. I was thinking of the less ambitious idea of just working together to achieve a common purpose. I don't think this is easy to do when a side that's made a good start is disrupted by the sudden arrival of "stars" who don't even justify their selection.

Yes, but the opposite of team building can be very quick as you suggest. Stars returning is one thing, but imposing one of them as captain is altogether another, even if Livingstone only missed one game.
Widening the subject - what price relegation and a clear out out: Vilas, Parkinson, Lamb to name but three.
