As well as captaincy, what do people think of Livingstone’s bowling?
He seems to be giving himself more overs than the specialist slow bowlers, and not to particularly good effect.
I was thinking back to the T20 semi final against Worcestershire in 2018, when Worcestershire had a quiet-ish couple of overs, then the captain bringing himself on very early on and going for 23 in what ended up being his only over.
The following year when we played Durham up at CLS we looked to be tightening the screw in a low scoring game when Livingstone bowled his four overs at close on 12 an over, although I think Vilas might have been captain by then. Bopara and Ten Doschate made hay whilst Mahmood and (I think) Faulkner bowled just two overs each.
For a part time spinner, he seems to have a high regard for his bowling. As for captaincy, we currently have an international one day captain in the ranks; would his decisions be better, whilst accepting this appointment might possibly upset the apple cart?

I watched last night’s game on Sky and wasn’t very impressed with the way Liam Livingstone came across. At the toss he was very ambivalent, apparently having difficulty remembering whether he wanted to bat or bowl after winning the toss. In the post match interview he was grumpy admitting that Lancashire had been slow to use pace off and could have got the toss wrong. Coupled with his lack or reaction when he caught Mullaney in the Notts match I wonder whether he has the personality to lead the team.
It's difficult to see what is going on watching on tv but it struck me that there wasn’t much communication between senior players and Livingstone on field. With the amount of experience Lancashire have we should not be making basic tactical mistakes which has been the case in both the Birmingham and Yorks losses. I thought that Lancashire looked like eleven individuals last night.

You are in uncompromising mood this morning Chris!
I think , and I think Oldham Exile agrees with me on this , that the whole Chilton, Chapple thing is too insular and we need outside ideas.

Not sure about this morning, but I did follow the Warwickshire game, and yesterday seems to have been more of the brainless cricket that Mal Loye was lamenting.
Carl Crowe (Leicestershire) is Assistant Head Coach.
I've always been prepared to support Mark Chilton. Over the years, when I lived iin London, I found him to be one of the more approachable and open to speak to. Along with John Stanworth before him. How he was managing the second team at that stage of his career seemed good to me. Prepared to justify his decisions. He still interviews well, imo.
It just occurred to me, this morning that we are the only team (in the top division) yet to win in the championship, and there do seem to be a lot of players out of contract at the end of the year. Add Croft, Jones and Blatherwick to those already mentioned.

Livingstone is a poor captain, always has been. Buttler rarely does well for Lancs, Hartley is a superb catcher, never worried when it goes to him, Mahmood is barely fit more often than Jofra Archer, rarely do we get more than a few games together out of him. Too many egos in the squad?

He is making some very odd decisions. He bowled all 4 overs against Notts, despite being very expensive. Last night, Livingstone and Wells bowled 6 overs between them, while Bailey, Parkinson and Hartley only bowled one each. With Mitchell and De Grandhomme at 6 and 7, there are effectively 6 front line bowlers. The plan should be for them to bowl all 20 overs, then revert to Wells or Livingstone if needed, as a plan B. While the batting was awful. Croft, Wells, Hartley and Wood with the best strike rates, while the internationals were trying to hit every ball for 10, and not timing a single one. 9 times out of 10, the ball that Buttler got out to gets slapped through the covers for 4.

Hmm, how poor we've been since Notts, although better yesterday than the Bears game, makes me wonder if there is something to this trouble in the camp stuff you guys are mentioning here. Especially when factoring Livingstones casualness to captaincy, and how he likes to bowl himself. I agree that tactically he and Wells should only be bowling if need be, maybe if we show up and the pitch seems suited to slow bowling we change tactics but surely Parkinson and Hartley if playing should get their full allotment if thats the case. Disappointing this, we looked really good the first 3 games and now seem to have our confidence sapped. Need a win today against Durham, not matter how it comes.

Jones in for Wells. Assume Wells is injured. I would have picked George Bell ahead of Jones.

Don't see the point of Jones. Doesn't bowl, doesn't bat quick enough for T20. I agree with Alan, would be better to give young Bell more experience.
