Disappointing score on what looks like a 350 pitch. Surrey bowling was consistently accurate but most of our batters just didn't concentrate enough.

Bad drop in the slips by Mitchell I think. Could have done with that wicket. Recovery here by Surrey.

How much influence do you guys think this Kookaburra ball makes to bowling? Did it get any easier for Lancs as the ball softened? I didn't see any difference. Salt did decent but he played and missed at a few as well, so I'm not sure it got any easier for him.

That will be a question for the England hierarchy. Personally I'd say they aren't needed for our CC team. When was the last time either of them played in the CC? |

Not watched any today, seems like a mixed morning, 3 wickets but they've added a few runs. Could do with getting Curran out.

Lancs have had amazing luck after a morning of pies from our back-up bowlers gave away 140 runs, thanks to Surrey's batters losing their heads and holing out. For the hat-trick ball Mitchell bowled a great yorker which Abbot only just kept out. "He should have bowled another long-hop," said the Surrey commentator. Spot on!
Seriously, we can't expect to win matches with only two front-line seamers in the side (Surrey have five). Balderson will take wickets but he falls away in his delivery stride so he can't control his length properly which, on a pitch like this, is asking for trouble. Blatherwick is still quite raw, bowls some dangerous balls but can't yet maintain a consistent line and length. Mitchell is a part-time bowler.
