Calm down everyone. Abbott and Worrall haven’t got together yet!

Brilliant opening burst from Bailey has put us in with a chance of an unlikely victory. Still far from easy as the ball will soften and they won't give their wickets away like they did in the first innings.

Good response by the bowlers after the runs conceded in Surrey's first innings.

Yes, we're unexpectedly level after losing nearly every session. Pretty important to win now because otherwise there'll be regret for all the mistakes made in this match, especially the giving away of wickets, but it's 50/50 at best.

I'm down at the Oval for the four days and when the game is on a knife edge like this it is hard to think of any better place to be. A great sport played in a great cricket stadium with fine weather, it really doesn't get much better. I've gone through every emotion possible these last three days, cursing the last wicket stand etc but whichever way it goes tomorrow (and I put it still 50/50) this game has been a magnificent advert for red ball county cricket.

Delighted you’ve had a great time JohnW. I had a similar time in May 93 at The Oval when I had the privilege to see Waqar and Wasim perform at their peak and a great century by Mike Watkinson. He went to 100 with a straight six off England player , the late Joey Benjamin . The six would have smashed all my teeth cartoon style if I had tried to catch it in my seat in the second tier of the pavilion. It was the best view of first class cricket I’ve ever had.
Hope the result is the same tomorrow. We could do with Wasim but even he couldn’t always dispose of number elevens. He came off in tears at Old Trafford once in a televised game where he failed to get rid of Yorkshire’s number eleven given all the last hour. The tears did show great commitment to the Lancashire cause ; hard to believe we would get that from Livingstone and co.

It was the best view of first class cricket I’ve ever had. and there's another co-incidence (after seeing Worcester play at Southport in 1969 a game admin remembered). Des, I was also there on that first day watching Watkinson's hundred, as a guest of a Surrey member, from one of the balconies of the pavillion - can't remember which. I remember walking out and remarking after looking at the other scores that day and saying we must have seen the best day's cricket across the country only to be corrected by a voice from over my shoulder saying "you mean it might have been the most runs" or similar.
Next invite to their pavillion came about in 2016. Great view as you say but later on I prefered the old Gilligan stand at the sea end at Hove. Knocked down now of course. River end stand at Chelmsford not bad either.

Bailey strikes again, 6 down. Lancs could actually win this.
