Scott Read sheepishly trotting out the "official" line on Parkinson's departure. Hartley gives the team "better balance" etc etc. Heard that it was shameless, or naive or both and then ironically, saying "and one thing you will get when interviewing him is absolutely honesty" which of course might have been the problem at Lancs.

I presume we could sub Salt and Wood back into the side, and Hartley for that matter if we so desired.....

Would leave well alone and let the youngeters get some experience. Salt and Wood and possibly Hartley will have plenty of franchise cricket over the winter.

Commentators saying Williams is nominated to make way for Hartley? That can't be right surely? Sub out your best bowler? Blatherwick a much more obvious candidate. To be fair I'm not sure Scott Read knows what day it is half the time.

To be fair I'm not sure Scott Read knows what day it is half the time. Yes, but most of the comments coming from the Kent commentators in the first instance, Read just confirmed that was an actuality not just a possibility.
Lancashire said nothing, no surprise there. I would guess their excuse is it's all dependent upon Crawley and Hartley not picking up an injury today playing for England.
Kent may have a decision to make if they have to bat before Crawley arrives, maybe tonight. If the player bats (?Compton) who Crawley will replace, Crawley can't in that innings. Night watchman time?
I remember a game several years ago when Chapple was 12th man for England and released and nominated to play for Lancashire, his first act in the game after driving down (to ?Hove) was to drop a catch at mid on / off.

Yes I went to that game at Hove, Chapple looked as if he had never played before in his first couple of sessions

Great knock from Bohannon, missed his wicket because I was in a meeting. Another good knock from Balderson too. He's been great this season.

What happens if Williams takes a couple of wickets and Hartley turns up. Are they obliged to replace Williams?

I am truly amazed they are looking to sub out Williams and not Blatherwick unless Williams is carrying a niggle.

Suppose they could say Hartley picked up a knock today warming up! I don't think it should be allowed anyway, stupid scenario!

Yeah, seems stupid this rule. Fair enough if someone gets injured, being able to sub someone in as replacement but this just seems wrong.
