Crazy goings on in the Ranji Trophy(Plate League) match @hyderabad yesterday, Hyderabad asked the visitors(Arunachal Pradesh) to bat first and dismissed them for 172 in 39.4 overs with the opener Techia Doria left unbeaten on 97, that left Hyderabad a possible 48 overs to bat till stumps and while most would have expected Hyderabad to match Arunachal Pradesh's score by stumps they did that and then some .... By stumps Hyderabad were 529-1 from 48 overs with openers Tanmay Agarwal 323*(160) and Rahul Singh 185(105) sharing a first-wicket stand of 449 from only 40.2 overs. Unsurprisingly a few records broken there: www.espncricinfo.com/story/ranji-trophy-stats-tanmay-agarwal-smashes-fastest-triple-century-in-first-class-cricket-1418408

Depends on what his desire is now to kick on and how far he wants to go in the game

Don't know if he's related to the late great Colin Bland, but Neil Brand(27) an opening batsman and very occasional spinner(72 wkts in 51 matches, best 4-35 previously) took 6-119 on his Test match debut for South Africa against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui.
Hazard a guess that is the first time an opener has taken a fiver-for on Test debut.

Surely must've been the first player to Captain one of the established sides on Test debut.
Off to google Mike Brealey ....

Don't recall it but apparently wicket-keeper Lee Germon skippered NZ on debut against India in 1995.
Thought maybe Graham Vivian had but he just made his Test debut as an 18 year old before he had played a first-class match.

Yeah was a strange squad selected, I know SA20 is still ongoing, but it's as if they have excepted they can't compete in the World Test Championship with India, Australia, England and New Zealand! It's not as if most of the newbies were next off the rank. Very strange.

Nothing to do with the test championship. Blame franchise cricket.

Thought you might like to know..... Would have thought the former South African Test cricketer who suggested it would have been more in the know, but I just don' know anymore, not that it will keep me awake at night ....
