Alanw ; yes, George Burrows is paid by Formby. He also had a spell with Sussex. Ian Cockbain’s firm effectively pays the players so whether he draws anything himself, I’m not sure.

It wasn’t to be for Rainford yesterday . After some really excellent cricket by both sides in Ormskirk’s innings , torrential rain reduced the match to 29 overs. I think that any game of cricket at a high standard of less than 40 overs is a farce. There can be no doubt that Ormskirk deserved their win .

Despite losing to Leigh  partly as a result of dropping Karl Brown at least twice, Rainford gained in league position. The wicket had nothing in it for any bowler.

Extraordinary tie for Northern which may well have cost the championship although Southport will be kicking themselves for not winning the game.

Not many more games to go. The Rainford lads must be disappointed how their season is ending.

Think we will win our last two MickeyG at home to Newton Le Willows and away to Wigan. Not ruled out finishing third. As shown yesterday, now Wallasey’s pro has gone home they aren’t half the side.
