Is it legal to tell voters on the face of the ballot/ proxy paper how they are expected to vote? Its not illegal. So for any motion put forward at any general or special meeting of LCCC the board are entitled to ask - not insist - that members vote for or against that motion...

So for any motion put forward at any general or special meeting of LCCC the board are entitled to ask - not insist - that members vote for or against that motion... Yes they are allowed to advise. But I wasn’t sure that they were allowed to do so on the face of the ballot paper. However I accept your answer and thanks.

Link is to a podcast interview with Alan Higham, a Lancashire member who has become a leading campaigner for the preservation of the county championship as the foundation of first-class cricket in England and Wales and for real consultation with its supporters over its future.
He explains why this is essential now in the light of the ECB’s just-published high-performance review, as the guest of Peter Oborne and Richard Heller in their latest cricket-themed podcast. Worth a listen....

You only have to look at politicians (certainly all the main parties at Westminster)and then you can see how people can talk such rubbish and take themselves seriously. Players need more rest so we are going to reduce the Championship and the Blast but not scrap the 16.4. And do we think he was asked about cancelling the 16.4? No chance is my view.

The Lancashire stalwarts view www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/63080117Sometimes gives the impression his heart isn't 100% in the County game. Buttler has only played one CC game for Lancs in the last five years so what does he know about it. David Malan has also come out in favour of reduced games as well. Looks like the ECB are trying to rally support amongst the players...

That's so annoying isn't it? Playing one championship game in five years really worked for him in Test matches.

The aim of 10 games is to give them time to recover yet next year they appear to be playing 5 tests in 6 weeks

What is the proposal at the SGM on the 12th Oct?
I have received an email from LCCC asking me to vote against it but it does not say what I am voting against. Very strange.

You should have received an earlier e-mail on the 27th which has a web link within it titled member letter which leads to the resolutions which are
Resolution 1 The Club’s management will oppose any reduction in the number of first-class fixtures for future seasons, unless it has the prior consent of the membership from a further SGM or an alternative Members’ Forum with a ballot that is binding on the Club in the same way as an SGM. Either meeting must be arranged to maximise the opportunity for Members to attend and all papers circulated in advance of the meeting must provide a balance in arguments for any proposals under discussion
and
Resolution 2: The Members agree that the Club’s management’s handling of the Members’ concerns in points 1 to 3 above fell short of the standard they expect to be achieved. Proposals to improve Member relations and communications especially around those areas where significant differences of opinion exist within the membership should therefore be brought forward to the 2023 AGM for approval.

Thank you I'm away at the moment and missed the earlier email. I will go to the SGM if I'm free. Not sure which way I will vote at the moment.

Agree my old friend. Remember that I said he would be a waste of space from the start and be a footnote on Lancashire cricket history. Completely agree with Richard.I’m not saying that this is Richard’s view but I would extend his politician comparison to say that the only thing that matters to Buttler is Buttler plc. The only thing that matters to these people running the country is that they get on the board of the megacompanies who run the country and the priority now is to look after their cronies. The ECB the last few years has been a microcosm of the cabinet. Hope the new chairman changes that.

The talk is of compromise....I suspect ECB will offer to keep the same number of T20s - which will please the non-test/hundred grounds - increase the premier division to 7 clubs and so 12 CC games and offer one promotion space to the Division 2 clubs for the 2023 season.
Suspect this may satisfy most counties. I'd be sorry to be lose any CC games though....

Therefore if that comes about the other two divisions would be a 6/5 team league which would be nonesense. Just one other thing we only played the County Champions once who knows qw might have won down there however we will never know

Received a voting form, the club on the HPR want you to vote against the members proposal as the reduction of the CC is a narrow subject only and the request for a meeting was received before the report came out.
