Highly entertaining spell of watching them attempting to put the stumps in only to be foiled by rain

In a dominant position won't lose but to be honest Surrey seem to still be celebrating the title definitely an end of season atmosphere and personal view should not be playing cricket at this time of the year

Making steady progress and much less time lost to rain than I thought would happen. Weather looks good for the next two days but it will be a challenge to bowl out Surrey whose average 1st innings score this season is 300+.

Surrey following on. I always think its bad form to lose after being crowned champions. Hated it when it happened to United. Always think after being champions you want to finish the last few games unbeaten. But maybe thats just my winners mentality, lol.

This match means a lot more to Lancs than to Surrey, who seem a bit demob happy. It's a worn pitch and it will take a lot more motivation than Surrey have shown so far for them to bat to tea tomorrow.
Disgraceful that Essex haven't been penalised for last week's awful pitch, marked "poor" by the match umpire.

What is the worst rating a pitch can get? "Disgraceful"?

Surrey appear to want to lose today

Thouht they would collapse once the openers were out and the effects of the roller had worn off. The game will probably end today as Surrey won't want to come back for a game they can only lose.

Outside chance of second place if Hampshire lose to Warwickshire who need the win to stay up.

Outside chance of second place if Hampshire lose to Warwickshire who need the win to stay up. Could have done without the six point deduction!

Outside chance of second place if Hampshire lose to Warwickshire who need the win to stay up. Whatever happens tomorrow that 6 point deduction makes no difference. 8 points for a Hampshire draw will see then into second place anyway.

Still a chance Yorkshire could go down. Yes, please!

I expected Surrey to bat better in their second innings and that we might have to bat again tomorrow. But their heart wasn't in it..the match was irrelevant to them, the weather was cold and uninspiring and the CC winners cup and medals was ready for presentation.
Also surprised that they didn't go off for bad light.
From a Lancs perspective heartening to see that we can still field a strong team despite all our missing players.
One oddity I noted...96 overs to be bowled in a day so three sessions of 32. Surrey bowl 32 in the first session on day 1 and somehow are +2 on over rate??
