I mentioned yesterday about that tw*t (insert the appropriate vowel, I’d suggest the first alphabetically) on the Yorkshire forum who said it made his day when we had 6 points deducted.
Well I hope he made the most of that day as I can’t imagine he’s having much of one at the moment!😂

Well I hope he made the most of that day as I can’t imagine he’s having much of one at the moment!😂 Liked this comment on their site:
"Looking for a silver lining!
Derbyshire will most likely take us to Chesterfield which is effectively a home game.
Glamorgan perhaps will give us Colwyn Bay.
A Gloucester member I was talking to seemed sure we'll get Cheltenham.
Worcester is lovely, Hove makes a good break and Durham is close for members in the North of our county.
It's not a bad set of fixtures."
Also someone pointing out that they were nowhere near relegation when they sacked Patterson as captain mid season.....
and credit due for this one: "It is now even more important to oppose the Strauss review. There seems to be an assumption that there won’t be promotion available next season, as it stands that is not the case, and nor should it be. Members throughout the Country are uniting against the Strauss review and putting significant pressure onto their committees. Not a single County has supported the Strauss review yet. "

Used to be Hampshire Richard and they used to play there regularly at Dean Park . The great Barry Richards scored 129 there in a Gillette cup match against us in 1972 although Lancashire won the game.

Hampshire's batting seems to have fallen away badly of late, which is why they lost their last two matches. So we finish second but even without the six point deduction we would still have been 19 points behind. Will Chapple look at the possible reasons why we only drew with sides that Surrey beat easily? Think batting too slowly(especially Bohannon) cost us a bit. Would be interested to see a run rate comparison between us and Surrey throughout the season. Apart from that the OT pitch Agreed, denno it was the batting that let Lancs down. No complaints about the top 2, but after that some disappointment at times. I might be wrong, so someone please correct me, but Lancs didn't really have much of a wagging tail. To be fair though, they did the business with the ball, can't complain there. The weather didn't let Lancs down as much as I expected either.

Am I right in thinking that, apart from Croft, our best batsmen all learned their skills at other counties?

We were near Portsmouth and on the Sunday I went to watch the John Player League game against Nottinghamshire at Portsmouth and then we moved on Monday to another site near Bournemouth where the same two teams were playing the Championship game so I went to Dean Park on the Tuesday to watch the third (final) day. I remember buying Gordon Greenidge’s Benefit Brochure. www.espn.in/cricket/series/8858/scorecard/470252/hampshire-vs-nottinghamshire-schweppes-county-championship-1983

Fabulous days watching ; bettter than one day cricket any day. Norwell’s performance reminded me of Glen Chapple’s in about 2008 which saved us from relegation and sent Kent down whereas we actually finished fourth or fifth . Kent had actually been championship contenders before the game. Quite surprised looking at the score that he only took six second innings . cricketarchive.com/Lancashire/Scorecards/132/132399.htmlThat fourth innings is remarkably similar to yesterday. For Norwell and Hannon-Dalby, read Chapple and Tom Smith, plus Brookes and Newby playing similar roles. I watched much of the last session, nail biting stuff. Shows again that sometimes it's in your interests to get bowled out and post a smaller target than you might otherwise. Great performance from Nowell, he's written himself into the Warwickshire annals. Very good bowler, was the pick of their attack when we played them in June. I think he would have been knocking on the England door if his season hadn't been curtailed by injury.
