Anything on who is in the academy this year either, is also completely absent although when Chapple was interviewed by Allott last month in the year in review it was let slip that they "had a new intake already" (5 min into interview)

Does anybody know why George Lavelle isn't keeping wicket in the University game? Seems he is opening the batting and Matt Hurst is keeping.

No idea, but I suspect the club want to assess Hurst's keeping at a higher level than age group cricket and over longer games.  Also is Lavelle going to get back into the 1st XI on his keeping alone?  He best way forward with the club or another county is to become a more consistent bat. Top of the order is best place to demonstrate that.

Interesting that they think Parkinson and Wood need more overs.  Boyden still missing (injured?) otherwise he would surely play ahead of Birkman.  Parkinson of course, may not even bowl prior to leaving the game to join the first XI squad in Essex.  Playing three spinners but not Hartley.....
