Off for rain now so chances of a win diminishing. Great catch by De Grandhomme to dismiss TKK but then drops a much easier one.

Poor to let these 2 build a partnership. Everytime Lancs look like they could take a grip of the game they let Somerset back in it. Some poor drops today.

Disappointing that we could not force a win, dropped catches were costly. Strange that CDG did not bowl until the game was done.

Didn’t go today but did watch on livestream. Not sure if either County can be too pleased with that. Lancs needed a win and Somerset need to sort a top three desperately. I like Lammonby but he isn’t an opener.
Agree re CDG ; what’s the point of these signings if you don’t use them. We look like a team too packed with all rounders to me. Vilas high at number four in my opinion and rest allrounders apart from Mahmood and Bailey ( I’m forgetting Jimmy as he’ll be gone soon) . Can’t expect great things from Mahmood too quickly.
Two five wicket hauls for Parky in seconds. Heard on grapevine ( and not via Dave Snellgrove but reliable source ) that he’s been told he’s got to improve his fielding which partly supports my allrounder point.

Is his fielding that bad? He's not Jonty Rhodes but there again he's not a Jack Simmons either.
A couple of our internationals didn't cover themselves in glory today with their catching ability.
I'm concerned that we do not have a proven top order batsmen who could replace Jennings/ Wells/ Bohannon. If Jennings is not fit for the Notts game I think I will be on here ranting about George Balderson batting out of position.

Early days but not the start we would have hoped for (although, ironically, we have the most bonus points). I agree with Alan and Des that we seem to be short of specialist batsmen from no.4 down, which, presumably, is why Hartley was preferred to Parkinson, even though the latter may have given Somerset more problems. Nothing against De Grandhomme but he looks like the answer to a problem we don't have. Hopefully, Dary Mitchell will shore things up, especially with Vilas looking in such poor nick but where are our own young batters?

Hopefully, Dary Mitchell will shore things up, especially with Vilas looking in such poor nick but where are our own young batters? Last year there were 8 Lancs players who scored centuries scored in the seconds in their championship, more than usual, I suspect without checking the stats Hurt - released Bell - first team Hartley - first team Hurst - given a first contract over the winter Singh - given a first contract over the winter Lavelle - still a leading scorer in the seconds, overtaken by Bell Subhaan Mahmood - now ex academy Fielding - now ex academy played once for Leics seconds
Balderson, Dickinson, O'Sullivan, Shetty, Selby and Walkden scored half centuries Only Balderson, Dickinson and Shetty have played for Lancs this season.
Given the number who they are no longer interested in, where the young batters are is probably not a problem in their eyes.

I'm surprised at the criticism of Parky's fielding. He's never going to be a gun fielder but he doesn't stand out as hopeless: he seems to cover the ground quickly in the deep, decent arm and fields the ball cleanly enough. Ideally from a coach's perspective everyone would be a "three dimensional" cricketer but that's not realistic is it?
Are the old guard of our middle order, Croft and Vilas, going over the hill? Mitchell should more than plug the gap, when is he due? Jennings will leave a massive hole in the batting if he's out injured, agree that Baldy is probably most likely reserve opener. Wonder if Rob Jones is close to a recall? He did alright last season.

Who filled in as captain when Jennings was out during the Somerset 2nd innings? Is Vilas worth keeping around for his experience, not just overall but also as a captain/leader?
