Is it top four, or top two that progress? Top four. Top two get home draws, third and fourth away.

Believe it is four but no doubt someone will put me right if not.

Jones’s duck must have kept him in the side.

Don't know when England next plays one dayers but on recent form, Buttler should be dropped. Now Croft bowler. Awful again from Lancs. Surely a reboot required at the end of the season.

“Jones’s duck must have kept him in the side.” In fairness Dave, one innings should never see you booted out of a team. You can actually give a better justification for being dropped for an awful 30 than by a duck. I remember Graham Gooch’s first four Test innings were 0,0,6 and 31. It was the scratchiness of the 31 that saw him dropped.Looked out of his depth but of course he went away and learned ; not that everyone does.

Agree about the one innings Des, but Jones seems to have flitted in and out of the T20 side for a good number of seasons and the consensus amongst us amateur selectors is that, like Bohannon, he’s not cut out for this sort of game. Wouldn’t it have been more sensible to bring Vilas back this afternoon? I think perhaps his best niche (Jones) is a number five or six in the CC team so as that’s resuming soon, maybe he’ll be given an opportunity in that. He played an excellent knock at Edgbaston last season. We’re missing Jennings as well. I think his last action was 22nd April and in his last interview he thought it would be “a few weeks” but didn’t sound too confident. Meantime with nine down it looks like we might score less than we did at Durham. Hales and his mates to knock them off in 15 overs??

All out in 18.3 overs, it’s getting amateurish.
Blatherwick to run through them? They should have kept Bailey in and given him more than a one over spell.
Right Jack, prove me wrong.

Loving the rejigged batting line-up:
Salt - 12 Buttler - 23 Croft - 3 Livingstone - 34 Mitchell - 31 Hartley - 5 Jones - 10* Wood - 0 de Grandhomme - 3 Bell - 10 Blatterwick - 7
Right lads just pick a number out of the hat ....

Another witless batting display sees us tumbled out without batting all our overs. Yet again complete failure to assess the pitch and bat accordingly. On a turning wicket it is utter stupidity to keep trying to hit sixes, ramps, reverse sweeps etc. Play the ball into the gaps and run hard and try to get 150/160. Notts will have no problem knocking these off as we don't have the attack to exploit the pitch and, in any case, haven't got enough runs. They bowled 12 overs of effective spin. We haven't got 12 overs of spin in the side. Livingstone will probably do OK and Mitchell and De Grandhomme (who on current form should be batting at 11) should problems but Hartley is hopelessly out of form with the ball. I wish Luke Wood well but it's not really his pitch.
I really hope I'm proved wrong but, if not, the team needs radical surgery. I would drop the IPL players and reassemble the side that began so well at Edgbaston.
