Surprised Balderstone hasn't been selected. Guessing the club consider him better suited to 50-over matches.

My opinion of George Balderson has changed over the last couple of weeks. I used to look on him as a bowler who could bat, an all rounder who would bat at six or seven in the order and I have made several comments on here when he has been pushed up the order to open. However after seeing him bat against Notts and Somerset I think he has the capability to be a good top order batsmen and it would suit Lancashire better if he was developed as a specialist batsmen. Inevitably his bowling would probably suffer and he would become a batsmen who bowls occasionally rather than an all rounder. I would keep him in the top four in the championship side when Jennings returns from injury. A top order of Jennings Wood Bohannon Balderson (not necessarily in that order) could be quite useful.

Probably won't be on youtube then. I'm in the US so don't have Sky Sports. I do have one other avenue though.

He's shown promise and he is beginning to deliver, but he needs to get that millstone off his back/neck whatever.

Balderstone's bowling can be very effective but he nearly always takes a while to find the right length, which can't be afforded in T20. Edgbaston is only 13 miles down the road and it's a lovely day in the West Midlands so I'll go and watch. Not overly hopeful as we usually start slowly in the T20 and we often bring the best out of Derbyshire but fingers crossed...

Thanks, interesting, at the time I couldn't understand the signing off CdG as I thought he would deprive Balderstone of valuable game-time this season, but maybe that is how the club see his development going forward.
I rarely watch cricket these days if it's not on Sky as I can't be doing watching on a laptop for long, but saw one spell from Balderstone last season and thought we've got ourselves a 'player' here as for nearly an hour he looked unplayable, but guess anybody that reaches that level on the right pitch and in the right conditions can do the same.
And i'm guessing that was a typo and you meant Wells, and not Luke Wood, or is Barry Wood(80)coming out of retirement ;-)

Yes I did mean Luke Wells and not Barry Wood, although back in the day D. Lioyd, B. Wood, F. Hayes, H. Pilling, C. Lloyd was a handy batting line up but we never got close to winning the championship.
I'm also a bit puzzled by why we signed CdG, but as I have said elsewhere he might be useful in the T20s.

My memory may well be playing tricks but didn't we come close circa 1979, and if Fletcher(Yorkshire) had walked as he should've done we would have won that year, not sure if Wood was still there but the rest were. I know we signed Fletcher shortly after in a no hard feelings kinda way, but he rarely played.
Yeah, think CdG is nailed on to be white-ball player of the year ....

What's happened to Boyden? He was meant to be a top prospect after the Under 19 WC. Is he injured?

Well this doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence!
Bell listed to open, out of nick Wells and Croft after that and de Grandhomme as high as five.
Rob Jones? Not many of us think he’s a T20 player and Bailey doesn’t play much of this format, albeit he took a 5 for against Leics a couple of years back.
(No doubt we’ll have a handsome win!!)

I thought we had done badly in the championship all the way through the 1970s. I just checked an old year book Harry Pilling finished playing for the first team in 1977 but then captained the seconds for a few years afterwards.
