To answer the venue question sadly it's the way it's going to go TV gets what TV wants, suspect this double header concept will in future become the norm, with the snmaller counties playing their home games at Big venues Thanks, had no idea that was the case. Stinks really, fans the last to be thought about. Derbyshire fans not only are you losing a home game on a Saturday afternoon but home advantage to get a result. Why can’t sky put on a game from Derby’s ground? They seem to go smaller grounds like Kent and Somerset previously. It was a double header. Warwickshire played Yorkshire afterwards. Unless a county was going to play two games, there had to be three clubs playing away. Derby put on free coaches out of the money they received.

Buttler only played one T20 for Lancs last season - at NewRoad - and may as well not have been there (although tbf that goes for the rest of the team too). Today was only the second time I have seen Lancs win an away game against Derbyshire so I suppose it's a bonus of sorts. Yeah, I remember that game watched it on youtube. Lancs battered Worcester early in the season at OT, then lost horribly at their place. Buttler didn't last long. I wonder whether its in their contract that they have to play at least one game if fit. I get that players who wern't brought up in the county/area might not have the desire to play like the likes of Anderson still seems to have.

Also an excuse for Warwickshire to hike the admission prices - £27.00 on the day! There were discounted tickets for what are always the two least popular stands in the ground but the queue for these was moving at snail's pace. The whole thing had the unpleasant feel of Finals Day: raucous atmosphere, childish distractions from the cricket etc etc. I don't know if these double headers will become more common - yesterday was being portrayed as a kind of official opening of the competition and there were no other T20 matches being played anywhere - but I certainly hope they don't. Difficult to estimate the attendance as a lot of Warwickshire fans only began to turn up late in the afternoon but the ground was looking about three quarters full at 5 o'clock - hugely more than would have turned up in Derby.

If the broadcasters lose the franchise competition, they will be looking to dictate more of how and when the Blast is played.

Why was the game at Edgbaston and where was Vilas? Batter and Bowler light at the moment if we are to beat the big boys in the group. Jennings and A Mahmood, Gleeson badly needed. Derbyshire should imagine be amongst the dead men come end of the blast. Any chance Salt returns? No idea how IPL works with players. Lancs had to choose two from Vilas, De Grandhomme and Mitchell - pretty obvious which one to drop on current form. Re the bowling - obviously, it would be great to get Gleeson back and Derbyshire are not the best but we really didn't look a bowler light yesterday. This was a flat, easy paced pitch with the ropes brought in a bit and a short boundary on one side and yet, if we hadn't made those errors in the field, Derbyshire would have struggled to reach 160 and, as it was, their 179 was still below par for a side batting first. In spite of the spinners being hit out of the attack, I think we bowled pretty well overall. Agree about the batting.

I was surprised that CDG didn't bowl. If he has an injury preventing him bowling I don't think it's clear cut whether to pick Vilas or CDG.

My memory may well be playing tricks but didn't we come close circa 1979, and if Fletcher(Yorkshire) had walked as he should've done we would have won that year, not sure if Wood was still there but the rest were. I know we signed Fletcher shortly after in a no hard feelings kinda way, but he rarely played.I started watching Lancashire in 1979, I just checked and we came 13th that year in the championship and as I remember we were always at the wrong end of the table until 1987 when we had a fantastic run in and ended second to Notts. I thought we had done badly in the championship all the way through the 1970s. I just checked an old year book Harry Pilling finished playing for the first team in 1977 but then captained the seconds for a few years afterwards. It's a strange one that as my long-term memory is usually bang on the money when it comes to cricket/football records/stats/achievements.
The part about he should've walked is true, think he admitted it latter, then joining the county within the next 18 months is true, but the rest ....
Maybe in my confused state at the time(was 15 or 16) I thought that if we beat Yorkshire we would automatically be crowned Champions. Something for the ECB to think about for next season .... ;-)

Check it out on other sources before you turn up anyone ; Somerset’s website had the start time of its T20 fixture wrong . Anything they can do, I’m sure we can do better. Somerset are mere apprentices to the OT masters.

Buttler available from 1/6/23 Interesting statement from the club, in terms of what it does not say. There are two County Championship matches in June, amidst these T20 matches. Of no interest to Buttler and Buttler is of no interest to the club in that respect. Plus the admission he's done very little for the club since 2015.
"Buttler will make his return to action during the Roses T20 and will be available for all 10 remaining matches of Lancashire Lightning’s Vitality Blast North Group campaign.
Buttler – who signed a three year contract extension with the Club at the end of last season - would also be available for all knockout stage matches, should Lancashire Lightning qualify.
In 2015, Buttler played a key role on Finals Day as Lancashire Lightning lifted the T20 Blast for the first time at Edgbaston."
Head Coach Glen Chapple also commented on Buttler’s return: “We are excited to have Jos available for such a large part of our T20 campaign this summer, it is a huge boost to the squad.
“Jos’ availability will strengthen an already strong batting line-up, whilst his experience as England white-ball captain and a double World Cup winner will be invaluable to have around the dressing room.
“I am sure it is news that will excite our Members and supporters alike and we look forward to welcoming him back into the group next week.”

I know it can be rough on lads that are always available but if we can get these internationals playing, we should. We know some are not suited to this format, Jones, Bohannon maybe a few others. Who keeps wicket if both Buttler and Salt play the same game? My vote goes to young Bell, LOL.
