Not saying he shouldn't be in the side because he's still one of the best batters but what is the point of having Bairstow down to bat at no.7, there's a real possibility he won't even get to bat in the match, would it not have made more sense in a match they are going to win comfortably to give a young lad a go if they've decided to move on from Foakes, if that is in fact the case, not really sure who would be next in line as I don't follow the 'A' team tours that closely but the lad at Somerset, James Rew, must be somebody the selectors are keeping a close eye on, if so chuck him in, it's not as though he's going to lose the match for England is he.

152-1 from 25 at the close fully expect them to be well over 600 by close of play

Wasn't far off to be honest no real interest in this match

Unless he has to bat on the 5th day to save England one of the easier calls.

I really don't understand how Ireland can possibly benefit from this match, surely they should be playing against the likes of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan home and away, or try and get Sri Lanka over to Ireland to get some experience first.

We need two division Test cricket.

We need two division Test cricket. Might be workable, but where is the cut-off, do you have the Windies and Sri Lanka(based on current ICC rankings) in with the 4 relative newcomers: Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Ireland?

Not happening as they still need 194 runs with only 6 wickets left, but would be great if Ireland could at least make England bat again and take the game into the final day.

Bloody hell they did, McBrine coming in at no.8 got 86*, and Adair at no.9 got 88 adding 163 for the 7th wicket! Well done chaps. Quick check and neither are mugs with the bat as they've both scored List 'A' centuries, but it was the highest scores in first-class cricket for both.

Totally forgot it was on, my mind was a few miles down the road at Wembley.
