One test against Ireland and five against Australia all done and dusted by the end of July so we can make time for a full month of pub cricket. One prediction if the weather is far and we bat first against Ireland we will score over 700 in one innings
England squad: Ben Stokes (Durham captain), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Matthew Potts (Durham), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham).
Archer unfit for the entire summer suspect won't play test cricket again, Bairstow keeping wicket

Talking about pub cricket, I see Livingstone acquired a new interest in red ball cricket tweeting about Somerset’s tactics the other day. ( I’m not on Twitter but it was quoted).
No Foakes gives me a bad taste. I’d prefer Stokes to open and Bairstow to replace Crawley. In normal times, I would never suggest Stokes for an opener although his technique is said to be reasonably good but these aren’t normal times. Foakes would score as many as Crawley and if Stokes bats as brainlessly as he did last year, he is as likely to score runs anywhere.
I’m going to be a heretic and say I don’t want Bazball to win. I accept I’m in the minority and I’ve always liked attacking cricket , batting , bowling and field placing but I think we are going in a really bad direction. The Cricket Paper was talking about bringing boundaries in for Test cricket as well as pitches for slogging.

Bringing the boundaries n, seem to remember back in the past the boundary was were the fence was nowadays it's classed as difficult if it's more than 60 yards away Lords used to be the pavillion wall

A successful Ashes side with a Yorkshireman batting 4, 5 and 6 wouldn't sit right with me. Maybe I should just let it go ....

I don't know if the powers that be were expecting a raft of football-like transfers/season loan deals but I thought the original idea was that only those playing in Div1 would be considered for England test selection.
In the squad named above 6 of the 15 are playing in Div2, it's just not cricket!
So Harry Brook and Mark Wood to be loaned to Lancashire immediately or heads should roll ....

Probably be done and dusted before tea on the third day but would have been nice for Ireland to be offered 5 days at the home of English cricket, appreciate it was only 4 days last time, but ....

Apparently won’t be Ireland’s first choice side Looking at the side that are currently playing Essex at Chelmsford there's only one new name, and the rest are those that played in the 3 Tests against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in April.

Think a few of the lads might have retired from Test cricket since the last time they played England, possibly because of how rarely they play at that level.

The Somerset forum often has humorous names for its threads. The last England v Ireland Test was the “ The Fielders of Athenry “
