I guess some people won’t be pleased about Jones’ century but I’m delighted.
Never thought we would win ; the Essex commentator was talking nonsense saying we were favourites just before tea but a good effort .

I thought that Lancs would lose though batting better in their 2nd Innings but never expected them to get so close and to still be trying to win at 8 down..
Loss hasn't affected our position in the table as every other Div 1 game was a draw...though the two bottom clubs have a game in hand over Lancs...

A very good effort to take it into the penultimate over but once Salt was out it always looked like Essex's game. Poor team selection was a great handicap: only two good bowlers, two complete passengers among the batters and a very long tail.

Never used to be behind the paywall (mind you everythng else is these days is from the Cricketer) but it was taken from the Lancashire website: fixtures & results then archive back down to 2011

Thanks Colin and p… off. Incredibly casual innings . I suppose if you have that style and are a bit out of form , it can look really bad. Interesting to note, whilst we have complained, speculated a lot about possible attitude, body language, captaincy, the dressing room, players leaving etc. Both Maxwell (his ton) and De Grandhomme (67 not out) against Surrey that both overseas scored their highest score in their first innings for the club. Coincidence? Cause or Effect? Back in the day, players biographies use to tell a tale or two. Just saying.
